12 Euro tax for Euro Delivery?
I picked up my car at Welt on 14 August and it just arrived at my dealer Monday. Last week however, I got a letter from zoll.de (German Ministry of Finance) that while all in German (naturally) seems to be asking me for 12 Euros.
It looks to be associated with my engine size and/or CO2 emissions. The heading of the letter translates to "Information,Motor Vehicle Tax." Wasn't BMW supposed to pick up the local registration costs? I don't think that it had anything to do with my actual drive in Germany since I had to go straight from Welt to the Munich airport that same day to drop it off. Anyone else get this? Who do I talk to at BMW to get them to take care of it? |

BMW ED in New Jersey emailed to say. "It's a mistake. Ignore it." Of course, if I ever go back to Germany, I'll be worried about a bench warrant for my arrest upon entering Customs.

I picked up my car on Sept. 22 and I just got the same bill only mine is for 11 euros. My best guess is that it's for the Munich pollution sticker that came on the car. I'll get my German friend to translate it but I think I'm going to ignore it.

I got it as well, I just transferred 10 EUR since I do German transfers often. It's related to the engine size and driving in Munich. They won't arrest you over it, you have nothing to worry about.
EDIT: Funny thing...I made the transfer with my German account, no more than 2 months later, the German authorities refunded my transfer. I'm quite lost. Last edited by CntryClub007; 01-25-2015 at 11:41 AM.. |
