The solution to warming up the car with comfort access is to lock it using the button on the fob, not by touching the door.
You can leave the key out the car and drive as far as you like until you switch off the car. ASS won’t make a difference neither will distance from the key. You can happily try hit P when diving or throw it in reverse at 70mph, the car protects against the stupid. However, I have managed to reverse with the door open, and I think I did it by opening the door when reversing. Didn’t really experiment much with that. If your better half drives off and stops the car, you can lock it via the app. |

While this is old... if you start the car and press the fob to the window outside and lock it does lock the car. It's 8f in the morning right now and I have done it a few times.
Press the idrive to get rid of the message...

Simple, start car, get out with fob close door, press lock on fob as normal & doors lock, go in house and leave it to warm up. down side is that it sounds the horn twice when you lock it !! not ideal at 6am

Why not just get in the car and drive off? Waiting for it to "warm up" is doing it no good and would warm up far quicker if you were simply driving it.
I doubt your insurer would be too happy either if it was stolen whilst running unattended. |

Once you've started the car, you can also press the dash central locking button before you get out. When you open the drivers door, only that one will unlock, which you can then use the metal key to re-lock once outside. Avoids the car making any unruly noises at daft-o-clock...

How is it going to get stolen if the car is locked? Besides it is attended - from the comfort of your warm living room. |
