E92 335i vs F30 328i Lease...

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi guys,

New here. I gave up on looking at Audis cause they didn't provide the feel I was looking for.

Anyways, I am 23 and looking to lease for the most part.

I found a lease takeover on a loaded 2011 335i coupe with nav and sports, m, and prem packages for $479/mo.

I also found a 2013 328i (f30) w/ m sports and tech packages for pretty much the same price $464/mo. Its was an exec car and has 5k miles on it.

Funny thing is that I came in looking at BMWs thinking the f30 is kind of ugly, but its actually grown on me a bit espesh with the m sport.

What would you guys choose?

F30. Better mpg and cheaper lease on a newer car. Makes sense to me.

f30 easily. e92 will be a "old" car in a year.

Lease the E92. You're only going to be in it for three to five years or so and then you can move on to an F30 or F32. Besides which the E92 may well be the last BMW 3er that's made that is as communicative as BMWs were traditionally known for being. You may as well experience it before it's gone.

Outside this forum, there's not one soul who will chide you about your car being this or that model or whether it's the prior or current generation. All they'll think is that you have a new BMW.

Lastly, remember this:
Anything that doesn't bother you so much now because it grew on you is a wart or a fungus. Familiarity doesn't make either of them something you really want and neither, as you suggested above, is the F30.

Get the one you wanted. Trust you instincts. This is one situation where you can't lose by doing so.

Its already about 7 years old. I would only take that 335 if you had LOTS of warranty as there a bunch of known issues with these things.

Your decision is based on a lease, so depreciation is not an issue. IMO compared to the F30 328i, Sport or M Sport, the E92-335i is far better choice with superior suspension, steering and over all performance. As far is becoming accustomed to the F30's style, I think it's interesting however in my world interesting becomes boring.
Highest Regards.

At your age I'd choose the 335. People say it's an old design but the E9X chassis is exceptional. Plus it has hydraulic steering and the awesome N55 engine. The F30 has the advantage of the more up to date interior and electronics along with better fuel economy but no matter how good the N20 engine, it pales next to the N55.

^+1. Old interior is less contrived.

One other think crossed my mind. Depending on how you sit in the driver's seat, you may find that your knee will connect with the driver's side door pull on the F30 and it's not comfortable. That's what happens for me as I tend not to keep my left leg fully extended all the time.

Depends whether you need practicality or not. If you can live with 2 doors, I would go with E92 335.

I would also take E92 M3 instead of F30 335 (same price and options)

Single and 23, e92 if it were me.

But they are really trying to move e92s.

Someone on another forum posted a new lease deal on an e92 335 for $450 a month with pretty much just taxes down. My local dealer is offering e92 328s for $289 but a good amount down.

Real concern is whether or not you're worried about the warranty, and if you have any information available on the previous owner(s) of the cars.

The F30 being an "exec car" concerns me. That's BMW's code word for the loaners they give out when working on customer's cars. That means that chances are every driver of that car for it's 5k miles drove it like a beater, and didn't give half a rat's ass about how they treated it.

I test drove a 2012 535xi that was an "exec car" with 10k miles on it, and there were trim pieces missing, stains on the leather and door handle, bumps, nicks and scratches that you'll see immediately in person, and worst of all I could definitely hear a fan belt squealing in the engine compartment (dealer tried to cover that up by immediately turning on the radio when I got in the car for a test drive).

If you know a bit about the previous owner of the 335, might be better choice.

I'm not one to just buy or lease without inspect the sh*t out of it. My current car was a loaner and I haven't had one problem with it. I think that 90% of people who get these loaners aren't going to all of a sudden drive them offroading or put hard wear and tear.

That aside, I'm in no hurry to make a decision and the longer I've been waiting the more I've swung towards the f30. Maybe its just natural.

When I know I can get a 12 335i for roughly the same amount, I don't feel pressured to jump on either (http://swapalease.com/lease/details/...x?salid=770364)

Add to that (this might not be 100%) my stepdad has gotten deals on his last 3 cars...MB E63 AMG (current), Porsche 911, and M5 through lease takeover. The M5 was $560/mo, which is insane.
