if this is the case its only temporary, simple re-code of the tunes, i would guess limp mode issue fix

Thanks! Was going to send him an email and see what to do, as I just bought the kit this week and was planning on installing after the new car arrived.

They are starting to do that. I'm sure we will see it on the rest of the'14's when they come out, as its already coded that way on the '14 X3's from the factory

I guess its worth it if there is a compatibility issue, however with the launch control feature. i wonder what the "update" really is to the engine... i would think probably the limp mode.
Just have them put it on a "we owe" stating the still owe you the MPPK when it becomes available again. That way you don't have to pay for it out of pocket in a few months

Does this signal the more powerful replacement of the N54/55? i.e. the one that will power the 340i, 440i, etc? Or is this a more innocuous update?

If they were going to replace the motor for My14 models that would have been announced when the pricing and spec's came out. Think of the excitement BMW could have generated! This information was released as a memo with no fanfare. I could be wrong but this seems more like some sort of minor engineering change. It would be cool if BMW just decided to add the MPPK kit to both the 328 and 335. As I said earlier, perhaps this is to address something they found when dealing with the Limp Mode problem.

Depends how long it goes into hiding. If it is available when you order your car then get it installed at port, its cheaper than after delivery

Launch control I believe and maybe iDrive touch?

not true.

when the 2013 5 series started hitting the lots, they were offering substantial factory incentives on the 2012's that were left on lots.

when the 2013 3 series hit the lots, they boosted the residuals for leases on the 2012's to 61% while dropping the 2013's down to 58%

I'd call both of those prime examples of year end discounts

Then I stand corrected, BMW Canada does not always have the same incentives. I may also be a bad negotiator.

Thanks for giving a clearer picture so the OP can make a better decision.

Horror stories are due to DME replacment on the early november 2012 production split. PPK on newer models is si,mple and quick!
