Installed PPK on 2014 F32 BMW 435i

Had the new M-Performance Power Kit installed on my 2014 F32 435i on Monday. I'll include a few pictures. Quick thoughts about the kit:

* $1,500 cost
* $400 installation at BMW dealership

Biggest gains are felt at 2,500 to 4,000 RPM, definitely feels faster. Seems to be more responsive off the line. When in Sport Mode and downshifting the exhaust burble is now about 5 seconds long, opposed to 2 seconds before. I have the Meistershaft exhaust so the overrun exhaust burble is very loud -- I love it.

Actually checked that out first, but notice the drop down menu. I needed the latest plant integration update, so its actually $400 more from GetBMWParts, the total cost would then be $1350, and my dealer matched the price.

No plans for down pipe -- yet. The meistershaft exhaust was a nice addition and I'm pretty happy with the setup and want to retain the cat for now. Meistershaft has a serious drone between 1,500 and 2,500, starting to wear on my nerves when cruising on the highway, but otherwise sounds amazing. My only mod left at this point would be to drop the car with H&R Super Sport Springs, still waiting to release them for F32.

lol kinda figured it'd be loud enough. i'm going to hold off installing er dps (already purchased) until after my exhaust has been on the car for a little while.

yea i'm debating on what suspension to get as well.. might just do the h&r sport springs (the drop is aggressive enough for me) and bilstein shocks combo.

*edit* h&r ss springs are available..

So I gotta ask,
Why spend $1900 on this instead of spending $500 on JB4?

When chances are, your getting even less power then JB4 would give.

Just to not have any chance of warranty issues?
Or cause you wanted the sport displays updated?

I don't think anybody really cares about the sport displays - bit of a gimmick really. But they do care about the warranty. I know I do and that's why I went with the MPPK. Also, on resale or trade in, the MPPK has some real residual value. With a nice exhaust and the MPPK, the car is fast enough and really is a very nice ride. If I want more, I will spend more and get an M3.

^ This.

For people that don't lease their cars, they can be concerned with the warranty, resale, and trade values. I think this is perfectly said.

Despite any "anecdotal" evidence of safety, or support by the tuning manufacturers, I'm not going to spend $500 to potentially void my warranty and blow up my engine. I can guarantee if something goes wrong the tune company will wipe their hands and say, not my fault, BMW will wipe their hands and say illegal tune, out of warranty and the owner will get stuck with that headache.

For that, I spend more, get less, but get the satisfaction knowing that if BMW's product screws up my BMW, they will be left fixing it at their cost. Again, I'm sure the tune companies make a fine product that is safe, but I'm not taking a $65000 risk like that for a $500-1000 savings

Totally agree, a BMW developed product covered under factory warranty is sacred, given the overall cost of the vehicles in question.

Besides, while considered a mild tune, you have to figure there was a whole lot more R&D going in developing and testing the MPPK with the resources of BMW corporate vs. third party tunes. While this may not completely justify the additional cost, I can sleep better at night knowing the tune was just right, to exacting specifications.

This +1

The real-world difference between a JB4 and the MPPK at the 1/4 mile is what .1 or .2 of a second? This is stock vs stock of course, no downpipes, meth etc.

On paper, 335 hp vs 380 hp. It seems like a lot but you're right, it might only be a couple tenths difference on the drag strip. I still haven't decided on which tune I'm going with.

this is for $379 JB stage 1, stage 2 for $579 will give way over 400 hp

In your dreams, maybe. Their claims are overstated, and pushing that much more HP over stock means they're stressing the engine past its design parameters. On an N54? Sure, no doubt they produce that kind of power, but highly doubtful they're getting "way over 400 hp" on a 2013/2014 N55, which is designed and tuned for efficiency.

I went with the MPPK and MPE for the same reason most others have stated before - it's factory parts, they're a value-add at trade-in/private sale time, they're designed by BMW engineers, and there's no warranty issue. I also bought mine from getbmwparts, but I installed the engine cover and lower intake piece and the stickers myself. Dealer charged me less than $100 to install the software. I got the MPE and MP gloss black grilles as a package for about $1300, port-installed.

Good call on the springs, looks like they're the same for the 435 and 428. I installed the H&R Super Sport on my Audi S5 and the drop was perfect. I checked the H&R website and found these specs...

http://www.hrsprings.com/application...ts/4/1654/2014

Anyone know a good place to purchase these? Most of the website have not updated their info. The three places that seem to be popular are TurnerMotorsports, ModBargins, and ECS Tuning...

I completely agree, that's why I went with the MPPK and I have zero regrets, had great fun driving to work this morning!

I'm going the exact same route. I have the MPE and Black grilles port installed on my 2014 335i M Sport, which is en route to the US. Figure I'll get the MPPK after a few months...

What's your overall review of the combo Roundel335? Sound? Performance? Responsiveness?

The Hong Kong dealer is asking $2,350 for the kit. I tried getbmwparts.com but they won't ship here. The dealer also told me that this is a part that I must install with them as it involves programming the computer. I feel like I'm being ripped of big time. Are there anyone from HK who got the MPPK that can point me to the right direction?
