Steering wheel swap question
Hi all,
I'm very new here with my first ever BMW, a 2014 F31 that comes with leather steering wheel that looks like it comes from a base Civic. Anyhow, I'm interested in swapping that with the sport steering wheel with red thread. The seller listed the part number as 32306878250 which according to RealOEM requires airbag #32306871095. Mine steering wheel appears to be 32306854753 which comes with airbag #32306857901 or #32306864494 by manufacturing date (03/2014). The question I hope you all can help me is whether or not the airbag I currently have (#32306857901 or #32306864494) will work with the steering wheel I'm interested in (32306878250). Is there an easier way to find out if one part is compatible with another? Much appreciate your help in advance. Kiet |

I do believe the base airbag is smaller than the "line" one.
If it were me, and it was I would change to F20 M Perfromance wheel. The "line" wheel is still rubbish! In the first F30 I had I couldn't stand the "line" wheel, we don't get base model down here, so, I had to change to F20 wheel. |

Which version of the airbag do you have on F31? Regular or Msport? If you have the sport version then you would need a new airbag to fit the new steering wheel.

Zamboni, I have the regular version. Does it mean I can just transfer it over to the sport steering wheel and it should fit?

The regular airbag is the same size as sport version this should work.

The base airbag (all black wheel) will not work with the sport or line wheel (with the silver trim around the airbag). They look like the same but they are not. I found out the hard way and now have a wheel sitting in my garage somewhere that I can't use without a different airbag and set of buttons.

Cardude or Aktran. I have a wheel and airbag for sale on here that may work for you. I tried to PM you but I don't think you have enough posts yet.

The pictures are in the interior section of the classifieds.
They came from my 2012 328i. You can look at the pictures and tell me what you think. The only thing is the wheel doesn't have the red stitching like you want. But compared to a new one, you can have everything for the price of the airbag. Also, I checked the BMW website and there is no recall on the airbag if that helps. |
