Here's a pic of my quote
This is before I tried to get the price down. From the initial conversation, I'm hearing I might get 4% off the MSRP and I'd choose non-metallic paint (Alpine white) and I'd say no to the acid rain protection.
Not much I can do about the 13% sales tax in Ontario...what a joke. But this shows you all what we're talking about here in Canada when we refer to $70K 3-series....we get it worst here in Ontario, as we have the highest sales tax. Imagine this thing with the M-sport package....you'd be into the low-mid 70's. So...there you have it. Just for comparison's sake, this total price is $10K more than a 2012 c350 4matic that I almost bought in February. And Merc was willing to make the first 3 payments and possibly work on the price little, so I'll say I could have got it for $55,000 minus 3 payments. After I drove the 3 series though, I realized there's really no comparison in terms of how the car drives. And also, idrive is so much nicer looking and more user friendly than COMAND. AIR CONDITIONING TAX?! What's next for you guys? Tire tax? Headlight tax? Steering wheel tax? That's craziness.

It'd probably be worth the trouble.

I wasn't charged for the following:
Sec. Registration Fee Locking Wheel Nuts Full tank of gasoline No idea wtf the acid rain protection is. Remove those and that'll drop $1K right there If you can pick a car off the lot you can really negotiate the freight and PDI down ... Upto around 60% less.

The $100 federal excise tax on air conditioners, is paid by manufacturers when they produce or import a vehicle. It is really just part of the sale price and is not actually an obligatory tax payment.

However, In terms of sales taxes yeah we have it worse off than the US for sure. But Canada is very small market.... see below: In 2011 BMW Canada sold ~30,000 cars. BMW USA sold ~21,000 cars just in October 2011!!

I've come to terms with it. I either pay or buy something cheaper. It's the price to pay for living in this awesome country. |

Yeah I think when it's time i will look closer to the GTA where they might feel compelled to beat the guy 40 mins away. Here in London they know I need to go 2 hrs to find another dealer and I can't help but think that's going to influence their willingness to be flexible. |

Where is the "discount" row ?
PS: the "acid rain protector" is probably just a sealant/wax that the dealer applies. Don't buy that !

I live the Toronto area so I have 10 dealerships to work with. It might be worth the trouble to buy in Toronto and use side roads to drive back to London once you pick up your car. It's what I would do. |

Definitely get them to waive the Admin Fee, its BS. You don't need the Acid Rain Protector, and you likely don't need the locking wheel nuts. Also, tell them to waive the fuel charge. You're buying $56,000 car. The dealer can spot you the first tank of gas.
