First it was BMW USA's Facebook page and now this is on the Hot Wheels Facebook front page! I have actually made changes to make it even better but they put up the old picture.

I made it to BMW USA's Facebook (and Twitter and Instagram) home page this afternoon!

It is almost 4' x 4' and there are over 320 Hot Wheels cars of which about 95% are easily recognizable to car people (very few Hot Wheels only creations) and many BMW's. The original plan was to only use BMW's but I soon realized it would be impossible to collect that many. All of the cars between the B and the W (including the letters) are BMW's and many of the blue and white cars along the edges are BMW's with some more in there too.

Edit: I just weighed it and it is 46 lbs.

WAY more than I expected when I started. It had to be this big in order to allow the letters to be large enough for cars without making everything too out of proportion. I had to buy lots of cars on eBay to get a good selection to not have too many duplicate cars. The mounting board was super expensive because of the size - I only found 1 place in NYC that could print 44" x 44" on hard plastic. My wife doesn't even want to know the cost.

Yes they are all Hot Wheels brand cars - no Matchbox. Generally they are easier to find and while Matchbox are more realistic I felt that the bold, brighter colors of the Hot Wheels cars worked better.

I will see if I have any extra of the white 2002 and GT2 M3's and let you know - I have piles of extra cars - though mostly blue ones.
