435 i meaning

Hello everyone.. im a newbie and i have a question ..what does the i in 435i stand for? injected ? thanks

I always thought it was because of the inline 6 but non inline 6's have it too so not sure.

i used to mean "injection" as in the original 2002 ti (turbo, injected) or 335xi (AWD and injected) to separate the petrol from diesels. This used to be intro to BMW life, how to decipher the decklid of BMW's. Now it just doesn't make sense anymore, the 335 has a 3.0l engine as opposed to a 3.5, and the 328 does not have a 2.8l it is a 2.0... Eh, I just drive 'em...
