If she doesn't NEED/want anything, what charitable organizations does she like? No, don't ASK her, you need to pay attention and already know these things. Then make a donation in her name to them, give her the card with it in there, and deduct that amount from the size of the diamond you get her. OK, forget the diamond part (maybe) but if you know she has a cause close to her heart.

P.S. I'm right at 8 years also, but my wife is a bit more "mature" than yours.

Grab a camera and go around and photograph items that look like letters and spell out her name, like this:

Depending on the length of the name you can get picture frames that will hold all the pictures or you can get individual frames and screw them all together yourself. Cheap and she'll love you for it.

This thread is great, lol. I wonder how many people offering advice here are either single or divorced.

OP, I agree with the getaway idea. Plan someplace special and surprise her with that. A B&B can be relatively inexpensive and make for an enjoyable weekend.

My wife likes Tinkerbell so I drew her a picture of her last year... went over pretty well and only cost like 18 bucks because of the frame, and a few dollars for drawing paper.. I think I also bought her a new laptop though too...

Well I appreciate everyone throwing in some good ideas... A few of these I had thought of...but a few were new.

I've been MIA for the past week as my wife and I took a week long vacation over to New Orleans...

We actually got back the day before her birthday...so there wasn't a chance in hell I could cash in some Marriott points for a B&B somewhere.

I went back to basics bigtime! I picked up a really nice giftset of a perfume she loves and has actually been out of for a few months from Macy's.

I picked up a really nice card, bouquet of yellow roses and two bottles of her favorite wine and delivered them to a resturant I had made reservations for later in the night...so once we got there everything was perfect and well placed!

I also did a few little extras throughout the day which she loved and showed I actually put some serious effort into it.

So with the trip to New Orleans which involved lots of travel, drinking and dancing...her birthday was simply the icing on the cake and the past 10 days have been sooooo fantastic she couldn't thank me enough.

<- This guy earned major brownie points!

No carpet in our place... so that wouldn't work. Plus I'm not spending $400 on a vacuum!

That's a really good idea. I was actually doing something over at Things Remembered. I was going to get a photo album and put a ton of random shit in it...besides pictures.

Maybe next year.

We've done everything possible in Orlando. From Travel Advisor to yelp...we've hit them all up.

Thanks Barron...don't know why I didn't of this sooner. I'm sure my dick in a box would have been a HUGE success!
