Preference order based on looks:
1. Gran Coupe
2. Msport Sedan, Sport sedan
3. Sport Wagon
10. GT

In terms of utility and space seems the numbers may be misleading.
The very sloping rear roof line of the GT and GC appear to take away usable headroom for rear passengers.
The chart shows a decent number but it's measured way forward of where a passengers head would be.
Maybe the rear seats are very reclined so that rear passengers heads clear the roof?
But that could mean an uncomfortable seating position for some.
For best utility I would think the sport wagon would be the best fit, but then I haven't sat in a GT or GC.

Im wavering on this GT. It looks good and I think it has more room in the back seat and the cargo area, just not sure its enough of a difference to pass on the better looks & driving dynamics of the sedan and wagon. The fact you can get this in RWD and a manual is tempting though. Need to see more reviews and check one out in person.

Wagon first.

Actually, my first choice would be a 1 series hatchback M135 xdrive (but it will be freezing in hell when we see it here in the states).

Looks like we are not getting the 335 version of the wagon any time soon either. So I am considering the GT 335.

FM.

Any Word on Manual Tran Availability on the GTs in USA?

Does anyone have any insight into the availability of Manual Transmission option for the new 3er 328 / 335 GTs (for the US market)?
I have gleened from reviewing some posts that this might be an option, but has it been confirmed.

The ordering guide only has 328xi and 335xi automatics.

There's hope for the RWD version, since a new pre-production 328i GT has just been built (which probably means BMW AG still believes BMW NA could request it), but the last of pre-production manuals were built late last year, so it looks like they're no-go for now.

I too am a little disappointed in the Xdrives. Wish they gave RWD option as well. How does xDrives affect resale?

I like the F31 as my first choice but the GT brings also a lot of value and interior space. Perfect for a family oriented alternative to an SUV.

Xdrive is more expensive which should give it a more reslae value than a normal rwd.
just test drove a 320d sport line touring (aka 325d in the us) and i was surprised by how small the rear seats are
since i am looking for a family car, GT felt like a bigger car and i dare to say it is bigger in every way....front, rear seats and luggage space....although i hate how it looks, it is just a pratical family car hope this helps

Well, here's my reason for getting the GT. My wife drives a company car (a Ford sedan) and she has to drive it. So, my car has to be, well, my car AND a family car. I want a sports sedan (been salivating over M3 since birth), but having 2 kids, a house, 3 bikes, one of which is regularly tracked and needs to be hauled, family road trips, etc. require a bigger car. So, natural choice: a sport wagon! If we had one here that is. CTS-V wagon is the first choice, but pricy and 500+ horses add too much risk to my life (see "3 bikes" above). No other manufacturer would produce a really sporty wagon. So, finally, at least a 335 engine is available in a GT trim! I'm not crazy about the looks, but it'll do. Placing an order today: 335 GT, M Sport, Estoril Blue, Dynamic Handling, M brakes (may be).
