So I fitted the power trunk kit today, took a little longer than I thought it would but it went well overall. I couldn't work out how part of the rear ball-joint bracket fitted for a while (it was smaller than in the video and fitted in a different place) and the bolt supplied with it was the wrong size, it was a royal pain in the arse to hold in place and get the bolt started but I got there in the end (and without losing it down the abyss). I had to manually close the trunk lid before it would start working but it has worked without fault since. I also had a weird fault with the left inner indicator, it was working fine then lost power when the trunk lid came down. I checked its connector (all good) and then came to the conclusion that it was probably something pulling tight on the harness, I cut all the power trunk cables out and re-ran them with more slack, problem solved!! This is quite an expensive mod but i really do like it, hopefully there'll be no reliabability issues with the lock as seen with some of the earlier kits. Check out my video of the power trunk in action.

i just sent payment for my kit for my f80
all this talk of failing locks has me worried as the f80 doesn't have a fold down middle seat to access trunk from inside the car there has to be a way to access the trunk even if the oem trunk lock fails |

Hi ,
My problems with openings seem to confirm today that the module is faulty, since the problems even blend now with the engine running, I had the unpleasant surprise this morning to see my chest open by 30%, my friend Mickael335i sent me his test module on my vehicle, the first tests are conclusive, but I wait two days to confirm that the problem comes from the module since my partial openings now merge with the motor vehicle that ' It is turned on or off . Lien: The SAV takes care of me, very nice for now and communicative, but the solution proposed for now is no longer relevant given the evolution of my breakdown . Thanks |

Yes, I confirmed, I rent my control box to The French because I didn't have yet installed my kit. I will install it during my vacations in august.
My control box seems to be working in The French's car....let's see on the coming days the final results but as a first feedback, his control box seems to be the problem... |

I've had my kit installed for around 3-months now and so far, so good - no issues with the lock or the motor etc, all working well. |

Finished up install tonight with a few points
The little metal piece for the rear spring bracket actually mounted from the rear as opposed to the front in the video - see pic attached I used a 10mm bolt on the front spring bracket as my car had that copper sleeve insert and the supplied gold 12mm bolt wasn't going through I had to manually close the trunk and get the latch to lock before it would start working Everything works fine, I just need to add some slack to the wiring near battery as when I put the battery cover trunk trim back in something is pulling - I have a feeling it's the black ground wire |

Spent a bit more time cleaning up install today
Both red and black ground wires were pulling a bit too tight from the instructions mounting point I ended up using the battery bracket holder 10mm bolt that attaches to the body to ground these, much better location and plenty of slack when closing All trunk trim back in and install complete Great job bimmertech |

I finally installed my power trunk yesterday with the help of "The French" who is a member of this forum.
everything was going well by following the video instruction and all the advices coming from the other users. After the installation, the power trunk was working perfectly! I really appreciate this new feature! Thanks Bimmerpost for providing us this feature for our F30! |
