First 100 Miles
Picked her up yesterday.
335 xDrive M Sport Black metallic w/ vinyl and walnut 8AT w/ paddles Heated fronts Auto brights Driver assist Dynamic handling Tech package ASS recoded to "optional" Initial impressions: 1. F30 is right-sized; I’m 5-11, 190+, and it fits like a glove. (Tightening the bolsters acts like a friendly love-handle reminder.) Real roomy rear. 2. M Sport styling is fantastic. (BSM looks 100% better than the photos). 3. Variable Sport Steering: Excellent and Fun 4. Tech Package is good, not great. Blame Apple if you want but no Office email and messaging for the 4S? And the phone “hums” in the cradle? And “some” album covers appear…after 15 seconds or so? WTF? (Also, is the volume reset to -50 or something whenever the radio is shut off or am I spacing?) Split screen is well-designed. 5. Moveable HUD: Excellent 6. The steering wheel looks and feels like butter meets racetrack: OMG... But having to deal with a lock-tab to lift it up and down on exit and enter? OMG… 7. Do I really need tinted sides and rear? Did BMW really not tint the visor area? 8. No brake squeal or steering vibration (yet). 9. Should’ve saved my $$ on Driver Assistance package; visibility is fine. 10. Fit and finish: Excellent, as expected. Vinyl: Excellent, as expected. I haven’t tried or focused on a lot of things yet, like traffic info, auto brights (found the button too late), HD radio, top view camera (?), paddles, etc. Oh yeah--it accelerates and handles like a 335... Overall: Two Thumbs Way Up! |

I have an iPhone 5. Go to settings>notifications>messages>select banners or alerts and turn on badge app icon, show preview and view in lock screen.
For e-mail make sure it's set to push. Now messages and e-mail should show up in office. Oh and once you make these changes delete your phone from your car then add it again. I also just updated the software for my office/Bluetooth in my car a couple days ago. If you don't have the most recent software in your car you need to go to the BMW update site and download it onto a USB drive then insert it into the USB input in your center armrest. |

Same thought as well.
Ron, I'm have short legs and sit close to the steering wheel. If you have seat memory with electric adjustment, just move the seat back when you exit (if you have seat travel left of course) and press the memory to normal setup after you enter. Saves on the manual repositioning of the steering wheel. I use this method every time. Glad you are enjoying your new car. Congrats. Cheers

The steering wheel on my wife's Lexus RX automatically retracts and my station car--a '97 4Runner--is manual but spring-loaded with one-step operation.
The F30's manual mechanism requires multiple steps to set up; you unlock the tab, position and then relock. That mechanism was invented when Disco was new... |

I generally don't need to move it, I keep it low but not so low that I need to move it to get in and out, but if my car is manual I'll be annoyed anyway. Assuming it must be part of the premium package or something? |
