However, it still looks better than Acura's lineup.

Quite a few cars have those weird front ends. It must do well in the wind tunnel. As for the Lexus, the proof will be in how it drives. Lexus has a boulevard ride and if they don't lose it, then the new IS is a failure, IMO.

Usually it's the other way around.
Now if this freak of a car actually does look worse in RL than in picture as well...
I mean, that's not even funny, it's just sickening imo.
A horrible looking car, just so high over the top, just sad imo!

I cant imagine the 2014 IS250 will have anywhere near the performance of the 328i. The IS350F might give the 335i a run for its money in a strait line but thats about it.

Same for Audi.

It is rather the other way round. 335i is faster on straight line, but IS 350 is better on curves.

Hasn't Lexus learned anything from Acura's spaceship styling and resulting sales disappointment?

Like the Acura TL, the Lexus IS used to be a genuine contender to the 3 Series. This new bizarre styling exercise puts it in a realm of its own. Well, a realm with one other, the TL. And maybe soon the Infiniti G replacement.

Oh well, it's all good news for the more conservative, but still bold, styling of BMW and company (Audi, Mercedes and even Cadillac with its slick new ATS). Probably even good news for Buick.

Lexus needs to refocus. And stop trying so hard.

Try. But not so hard.

Also, Lexus IS, 1994 called and wants its interior back.

Thumbs down

I could deal with the rear of it. But the front just looks to funky.

One thing ALL F20, F30 and F10 owners must be jealous of it the hood shut line. How is it Lexus can make the shut line join the grill, but BMW has to cut above?
By the way, really surprised how this new IS ended in the few hours of reveal on Bimmerpost Homepage. Clearly the 3 Series toughest rival.
Not me. I love the hood line on the F30, and especially on the F10 and the Z4. Might be in the minority with that opinion among some folks on the forums, but I really do love it.

this back and forth with the trolls is hilarious.. Question. Will a potential buyer be able to configure their own IS model to their liking ala BMW or will it be a continuation of we make them you take them by Lexus?

You mean the way BMW forces you to get Lines and limits your interior color choices?

This new IS will be a very hot-selling car.
BMW these days are too plain, too common, and very much toned down from the Bangle Era.
I want something different and Lexus did it for me this time.
The next gen IS-F will be a hit.
