Getting another lease from BMW FS while existing lease not yet complete?
Not sure if this is the correct forum for this but here we go anyway!
I have a lease that is ending n August, the car just got hit (yay!) and I need to get it repaired. Can I initiate a new lease for a new car which I was going to do anyway — prior to this accident — or will it cause any issues with BMW? I know you can get more than one lease in general but I'm referring to getting another BMW lease before the payments are completely satisfied on the existing one. I figure it's probably ok considering that when a dealer does a pull ahead they probably don't submit the check to pay off your car for a few weeks after you've already driven off the lot with a new car so essentially you'd have "two" leases open. Any insight into this would be great, thanks! |

I think that as long as BMW will do a pull-ahead on your current lease, then the fact that your car's in the shop won't matter as long as you get it fixed before turning it in.
I actually had the same scenario with Porsche a few years ago - two months before lease end, my car had its wheels stolen and some damage from the theft had to be repaired by a body shop as well. I just leased a new car from the same dealer two months early and never got my old car back again. Your other option would work too - lease a new car independently now, wait for your old car to get fixed, and just turn it in. There's nothing that says you can't have two BMWFS leases going on at the same time as long as your creditworthiness can support it. What I'm not sure about is whether you end up with two lease payments for a couple months...sounds like you might |

They do stuff like this all the time with European deliveries. I've ordered new leases and kept my old one until the car arrived stateside. They have tried charging me the deposition fee by mistake once but BMWFS sorted it out after I complained.

Thanks! I confirmed with BMWFS as well that I can initiate the new lease since I'm at lease end basically anyway. When the car is done being fixed I'll just turn it right in.

Good question. All I know for sure is it gets waived if you do lease another one. I'd imagine you could get away with not paying it if you're picking up a new car but YMMV.

What if you don't pay the fee and don't get another car, will it hit your credit? It sounds like an obvious "yes!" But do we have any proof it will? I know for a fact 2 other manufacturers don't hit your credit for it.

I'm too poor to lease a new one.

Assuming OP will be getting into another FS deal and depending on how many payments are left, the dealership will put in a stop-payment on the account as to not have 2 payments due when the OP only has one vehicle.
