There are no engine issues with the 328i.

It's the most reliable engine in its class according to Consumer Reports.

Well, I read/check CR. I don't need them to call a 3er the most reliable car around, but if they called it unreliable, I would probably not buy one. Bearing in mind, I buy, rather than lease, my cars, so I care. Folks that lease probably don't care at all. But even were I to lease cars, I don't have the time to be back and forth to the dealer to have things fixed.

I don't get it. It just came out this year.

Next, they'll be telling us the iPhone 5 is the most reliable cell phone out there. It just came out.

In 5-6 years it will certainly come with one of these, but promised no vibration.

No, but I have a really good excuse:

Now entering Hour 26 of the Sandy blackout in Northern NJ, can barely get an AT&T signal lock on my iPad which took 2 hours to recharge in my wife's Odyssey's USB port.

Can you summarize for me?

I like the car, but compact?? Come on, it's the same length as an e28 5er.

Just stay safe and don't worry about BMW's until all is back to normal. Trust me, coming from someone who has lived through many storms/scares (and over 10 days of power outages).

I just finished watching an update with Anderson Cooper on Sandy's devastation in NY and NJ. I can't imagine being in the midst of this hurricane !
Hope you, your family and your homes are all safe !

That video was fun. They really tossed the car around. More than any video I've seen so far. Major body roll made it look so clumsy but fun none the less.

Yep he really tossed the car around. As for the body roll... all thanks to the luxury line.

I'm very skeptical about this ranking though. Just from these forums, there seem to be a lot of people whose F30s are having complaints - steering clunk/vibrations, bluetooth/USB malfunctions, auto wiper malfunctions, A/C noise, yet un-diagnosed 'limp mode' problems etc. I'm still impatiently waiting for my delivery but now I'm a little worried

Consumer Reports? Won't change a thing. People who like the F30 for thinking it has great handling and agility will still like it. People who hates the F30 for thinking it has gone soft and mushy will still hate it. Because it's not what car reviewers say, but what you as the buyer like that matters in the end.

Thanks guys, hanging in there. Just woke up, still no power, now at 32 Hours. The kids are troopers, I'm ready to call it quits and head to a hotel.

Assuming you can find a hotel with a) power and b) available rooms. Good luck and hang in there. Be thankful for no major loss.

Consumer Reports is useless, but it is always good to hear praise on a BMW.

I think the reliabity reports from Consumer reports are very accurate. If you subscribe to the magazine or on line they send you a questionaire about your cars every year which I usually fill out. I don't follow their overall reviews on cars because they are biased away from sports oriented vehicles. I would contend they are much more accurate about reliability than this forum because this forum is geared towards BMW enthusiasts or people that have an issue that went on line and were directed to the site because it matched an issue they have.

Where can I find that video in the link? I came across Susan Boyle in that link...confused2

EDIT: I see it's the white 328 Luxury being tossed around. I recall seeing that video months ago already....but still fun to watch.

Cheers

Not tryin' to argue but I disagree a little. I don't think having issues with windshield wipers, ASS, having the car go limp, steering vibration, brake squeal are only things that only enthusiasts notice. Come to think of it, I actually think enthusiasts are more forgiving of little problems. In my experience, it's the nonenthusiasts that point out all the creaks and noises of my BMW.. as they're more inclined to use Lexus as the bar of smoothness and reliability. (Although I rather take creaks over a stuck accelerator pedal any day).

Personally, I think the CR reliability thing is funny because a car's reliability score shouldn't be measured in less than a year of it's new generation. However, my wife thinks it's funny because our brakes squeal like a banshee, our exhaust flap screeches louder than Gilbert Gotftried, and ASS just decided to put the car in Park at a stoplight yesterday. Most nonethusiasts say the same thing... "If you pay $50k+ for a LUXURY Sedan, it should be damn perfect." Whereas I tend to think, "It's a $50k+ SPORTS Sedan. For little problems I can just take it in to the dealer for a fix. Not that big of a deal."

While I don't doubt that a different set of tires would benefit the F30, the ATS' handling abilities over the 3-Series is more than just tires and by reading some reviews, it's just a better handling car. While the F30 is still a great car overall, it has gone soft to some degree.
Trust me the sport line eco lrr tires (which are labled as summer tires) are worse than the tires on my mercedes ml350s all seasons. Ive driven the ats premium 2.0t (top of the line) with actual summers and it was worse than a 328i m sport only because of tires. M sport has the same suspension as sport line and the tires made all the difference vs sport line 328. The caddy had good ride but i felt the front was to stiff for the rear (understeer when pushed). The f30s ride was impressive and body roll was slightly more but you had more feel of the chassis. The f30 was slighty more neutral aswell. This car didnt have active suspension btw
