Most us mag tests have the 328 at 3350 to 3400lbs. If you are saying in your neck of the woods the car is 3000-3100 then it is stripped beyond belief.[/B][/B]

For the 328i, the difference is 140 kg (300 lbs). I could make some crack about this being the weight difference of the European and the American driver, but the listed weight was without the driver.

Automobile-catalog.com simulates various performance date based on the cars' specs. I don't know how accurate it is, but it seems that the European 328i might be very close to the NA 335i in performance.

The simulated figures for 0-60 mph for these two cars are 5.2 and 5.1 second respectively. For 0-100 mph, the difference is starting to show a bit with 13.8 and 13.2 seconds.

I can't link directly to the comparison, but if anyone wants a look, they can click here to get to the F30 page. Scroll down to the cars you want to look at, and click "Compare: add above car to comparison"

I only checked on that site I linked to. Now I have also checked the official BMW sites in Germany, UK and Norway. All of them say that the 328i AT sedan weighs in at 1530 kg [3370 lbs]. It seems likely that the automobile-catalog has gotten the weight wrong by 100 kg. This probably also means that all their simulations are incorrect for this car.

Could be they're basing numbers on a MT car. Pretty sure that AT adds some weight.

I specifically chose to compare the ones with AT. The official sites have the AT at 1530 kg and the MT at 1505 kg. I just checked that catalog again, and they say that both of them weigh 1430 kg. Looks like we can't trust the specs in their database.

That should be about a 50-60lb difference tops.

The thing to keep in mind is that the N20 motor in the 328i is putting out closer to 270hp at the crank, as shown by dyno results that have been posted up. With that in mind, the gap closes a little bit and the performance results seem to make a little bit more sense.

Reasonable thinking, but for the fact the dyno results for the N55 are nicely over 300bhp - and the gap widens yet again.

Correct.

According to dynos the N55 is more like 315-320hp crank to the N20s 265-275crank. Both are underrated, just the N20 is more so. The only true 60hp gap would be between the N54 and N20.

N20 is more tq underrated than hp. My car on the dyno made about 30w-tq than it did hp when stock.

Can we find a strip and just sort this out man to man?
Once I get my car back, which is essentially stock, I'll be more than happy to... Even with my snow tires on.

I will bring my N55 X5 to this race, 1/4 mile is 14.7 @ 94mph. It's slower than the 328i but not by much. I am happy with that performance difference

My f30 is in park mode right now
