Nice.
I opted for the OEM and just had the dealer fit it prior to delivery. No other real options in Canberra that I could see. Only tried to remove the ball assembly once and was a bit of a PITA. I prefer to leave it on the car for that little additional protection from other bumpers. I received a harness with an inline box which connects the round plug on the car to the flat connector on the trailer. The dealer rattled on about it being required for non led light equiped trailers. As my trailer has led lights I'm not sure if its needed or not. Also not sure if its waterproof enough to leave on the trailer full time so it stays in the car. Another PITA as its rather big and I need to cable tie it to the drawbar. As for the bikes, I already had Thule roof bike carriers so I just invested in a set of racks. Thule WingBar Edge in black. Priced similarly to the BMW ones. |

My sensors automagically disable and the camera remains active.
I did just read that there is supposed to be some zoom function with an interactive docking line. Wasn't aware of that, I'll test it over the weekend. |

My F15 X5 is fitted with Westfalia towbar, it was installed by my local authorised BMW dealer and approved by BMW Australia. It even has a OEM factory sticker and part number.

Does anybody know if load distribution hitch is available for the 3 series.
I have a caravan with 120kg ball weight and the car can only handle 75kg. Cant move anything about, looked at axle then load, but unable to alter the weight. Can you let me know how much this full install cost you? How many bikes do you carry on the back, 3? 4? Cheers |

I have just last week had Bold Trailers install mine.
Westfalia sent me three installers in Sydney and these guys were the only that got back to me. The equipment is great how it works, and can't see it. |

F20 with westfalia towbar but wrong plug?
Hi, I have a new 118d and had BMW fit the towbar. I've worked out its a Westfalia removal-able towbar but the wiring harness has a 13 pin large round plug and with a 13-7 adapter I get "trailer rear light failure" with the bike carrier and bunnings trailer which both have 7 pin male plugs.
Question have BMW fitted the wrong harness or do I just need a different adapter? Last edited by jacksbeemer; 04-02-2017 at 07:08 PM.. Reason: I was wrong |
