Is it me or people seem to hate BMW drivers?
Ever since I switched from Volvo to BMW I seem to stumble on more and more idiots (a$$holes) on the road...
There are those people who just go slow (like 50-60 in a 80kph zone) then accelerate when you overtake them, then there are those who just cut in front of me while i'm in a roundabout or those on the highway (when I'm on the left lane) that switch lanes then just stay there not overtaking anyone. It may just be that case where if everyone seems crazy - maybe I'm the problem...but I really don't think so - I haven't changed my driving style (the previous car was 300hp+ as well). Anyone had this type of sensation after switching to a BMW ?

Its funny you say that. I was about to open a new thread on this topic.
I used to drive a Nissan altima and never had any problems. I thought fellow drivers on the road are generally decent people, but now i take it back. They are all a bunch of jerks Ever since i started driving BMW every d1ckhead tries to cut me off or race me from red-light. I have also noticed people behind me get extremely impatient if i drive even 1 mph slower than the speed limit for just a second. Its like every one out there is on their way to emergency room |

I think this is a general rule for us. The thing I hate most of all though, is when people in crappy cars (EX: 10 year old civics that aren't road safe) try to police the road. Yes... I'm doing 80.. You're doing 65... you don't have to jump in front of me just to slow me down. then sit there..... OH! Then they find another motorist doing the same speed and proceed to block the road. Aghh!! Get's my blood boiling.

I actually notice more idiotic behavior from drivers of BMW's. In Dallas, chances are that if a car is being driven with total disregard to every other car on the road, it's likely a BMW. Benz and Lexus drivers tend to be more reserved. Audi's are getting close but BMW's are still the rudest. Just calling it as I see it.

There are bad drivers everywhere, no matter the brand. Just today I had a jackass in a Silverado that almost rear ended me because he had to be someplace really quick. He got into the next lane beating me to each red light.

Most of them are younger drivers that have apparently never been involved in or experienced a really tragic accident so, as with many young people, they feel "exempt" from death. |

I knew I would get hate from people for driving a BMW sporty coupe even before I got the car. I'm a realist, I know the kind of world we live in. I even got a small ding in a rear fender within the first week of getting the car, intentional? Who knows?
To be honest with you, I enjoy driving my car so much that I couldn't give two shits what people think about me or my car lol. |

Same. I live in Irvine and I've never seen a BMW, old or brand new M6, driving recklessly. I'm not a BMW fan boy, if I see an idiot driving like an idiot, I'll point and say hey look, there goes an idiot. I don't care about brand this and brand that. But BMW drivers down here are legit.

One of my kids pointed out that I refer to drivers which are slower and that I overtake as idiots and those that come up from behind and pass me as maniacs. You probably do too, as do the drivers of the cars that you are either passing or being passed by...
Somewhere I read that people consider BMW drivers the biggest jerks on the road, especially black bmw's. I put a Notre Dame sticker on one side of the bumper and a Stanford sticker on the other so the haters can have a field day. |

When I first started driving a BMW i actually noticed the opposite. I don't get tailgated nearly as much, people move out of my way when coming from behind, people are more courteous when it comes to giving way. I think people fear the fact of damaging a 45k car

in my previous bmw (e82 125i) i would get cut off quite frequently... indicate to merge and the gap would close rather than open.
switched to a VW Golf and now when i indicate to merge, it's like the seas part and friendly waves are exchanged. it's much more relaxing now that i'm going back to bmw though.... *sigh* |

Get used to it. When you drive a BWM two things happen: 1) People assume that you are a stereotypical @sshole driver and 2) People are jealous as fack. People cut me off for no reason every morning and evening. It's actually a running joke with me and my fiancé. I've become really good at spotting the people who are going to cut in on me...I just slow down and make them look like an idiot. Oh and forget trying to pull onto a main road from a stop you grow gray hair waiting for someone to let you out.
