F36 Rear Dashcam Wiring
Has anyone mounted a rear dash cam on their F36? I've mounted a front/rear pair on an F30 before to the trunk fusebox but that was relatively straightforward. On the F36 we have the hatchback mechanism to worry about running a wire past... And I'm trying to think of an elegant and safe way to route the power and data wires. Any thoughts?

I did that on a F11, should be the same idea on the F36.
Usb wire from the camera is 5m long and goes back to the front of the car going into a special switch module that provides power hours after the car was locked. Uses a fuse tape into the fuse box. Has 3 wires sticking out, 1 permanent power, 1 ground, 1 switched power. You may need to use one of those CAN bus ignition detection module. Such as this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-RELAY-...IAAMXQQQhRfi9M Or this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-Can-Bu...EAAOSw5VFWNpSj |

I apologize for bringing up an old thread but I'm interested in setting up a 2ch dashcam on my F36. The video showing the installation on the M4 was helpful for the initial wiring but the 2nd video for showing how to run the cable through to the tailgate is no longer available. Does anyone have an updated link or video for this? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance! |

i know it's late but It's pretty easy to do. just have to take your time. I was able to install it in my car without any issue. i ran the wires from the a-pillar down towards the floor and behind the seat belt on b-pillar to the back under the seat. then feed the wire up towards c pillar and feed thru the headliner. Then you can feed wire thru existing wire loom for the tailgate. hopefully this makes sense, if not let me know if you need any info.

you should be able to pull the panels which are secured by clips and route the wire. I did that to route the wire thru the hatch.

Could please someone direct me to the guidance on how to install the camera in F32 or F36? I installed the camera itself in the trunk but am struggling to find how to route the wires into the cabin via the hatchback mechanism.
I'm already desperate as all the videos on Youtube are about F30 (where the routing is completely different) and the second video in this thread is not available anymore |
