I really like the head-up display. The car is very smooth and the steering does feel better then the 2015s. I still have not gone WOT on the car but I expect it to be slow compared to my modified 335i.
I would buy one if I did not already have one!

My car (340 x-drive) just arrived at the dealer this afternoon. I happened to be driving by and I saw it. Really bad shots as it was raining at the time. Better pictures next week!

Do you have the adaptive M suspension?
I ordered it for my 340i as well. But, I have a question for you. When coming to a complete stop with your 340i, does your car "bounce" up/down and a bit back and forth before settling to a complete stop? My 335i Msport has done this from day one. No matter if it's set to normal or sport, when I come to a complete stop it feels like the dampers stop working and I can literally feel my body and the car lightly bounce a few times before the car actually stops moving. I can count at least 3 to 4 oscillations before it stops completely. I am worried that the M adaptive suspension in the 340i will be the same way. I was going to get the static M sport suspension and be done, but then decided to give the adaptive another try. I really really hope I didn't make the wrong decision. If my new 340i does the little bouncing at stop I may just tell the BMW dealer to keep it and not sign the paper work. Yes, I am that PO'd about this. I HATE that my 335i does it. My car feels like something from the 1980's with bad shocks. Let me know how your 340i feels, and how it feels when stopping. I hope it's all good. TIA |

I just turned in my 2014 335i with adaptive for a 2016 340i with adaptive and understand what you are describing on your car. There is a speed bump in the grocery store parking lot near my house that would cause my 2014 to cycle almost two complete rebounds on that bump at low speed in comfort mode. That is completely gone on the 340i. I drove over the same speed bump on purpose just to compare. They have firmed up the suspension and rebound damping considerably on this car. I think you will be very pleased. I know I am.

It feels like they decreased the boost a bit and at the same time made steering geometry and positive caster changes to make it want to track straight more diligently. The effect it that it takes a little more positive effort to make a lane change or turn into a curve, and the result is more steering feel. Overall a positive change.

Thanks! In my 335i and other 335i's with adaptive I've driven, those complete stop oscillations just SUCK. It makes the car feel cheap. My 335i does this in comfort or sport mode when coming to a complete stop. I would say it's just mine, but I've felt it in other adaptive 335i's and never feel it in any of the 328i or xi loaners with the standard suspension. It's like the adaptive dampers decide to stop damping because the car just stopped moving. SUCKS. Good to hear it's gone. I told my dealer that I will not sign anything until we do a complete test drive. I'm hold BMW to task. If this 340i is the same or nearly the same as my 335i, then I move on, either an M235i or another brand. |

So far 500 miles into the new car I love it! Big upgrade all around compared to the 08' 335i. Now I just need to get through the break in period and find a tune for this car. I miss 450+ HP

EPA numbers on my window sticker are 22/33 and I have a 340xi. The EPA site is now updated and they are showing the same numbers for the 340 and 340xi. Doesn't seem right.
