New rim and tire recommendations
New to the forum and looking for recommendation and advice on new rims and tires. Currently have stock OEM 18" rims with Pirelli all season run flat square setup. Looking for 18" rim style recommendations
Also trying to run square setup with 245/40R18 Michellin A/S 3 tires. Would this work? Thanks in advance 2013 M sport Black 335i xdrive Manual transmission |

I just put on some APEX EC-7 18" wheels and Conti DW non-runflat tires. Mine are the staggered setup, but you could always put same size wheels all the way around. Mine are 18x8.5 ET35 F with 225/45 tires, and 18x9.0 ET43 R with 255/40 tires. I think you could do 245/40 all the way around on 18x8.5 wheels with no rubbing, but it'd be close.

I'd have to think the 9's will work, but the 9.5's may be pushing it based on your comments. To me the DW's are quite square (had them on my e39 m-sport, god rest her soul). I'd like to leave the option open to put on M Performance brake kit and suspension kit in the future when my rotors and shocks are closer to end-of-life. I'm waiting to hear back from Apex on fitment but would appreciate your thoughts. OP if you are still in the market, check out the group buy mentioned above. |

spearsdr: I think the 9" would be as wide as you want to go, especially for the front, and 245/40 would be the correct tire size for a 9" wheel. A 9.5" wheel will rub on the front, and 255/40 tire would also be too wide. Be careful with the offset for the same reasons - you could end up rubbing either the suspension on the inside or the fender on the outside.
The downside of really wide tires on the front is that they have more rolling resistance and will cut your fuel mileage somewhat - plus they'll tend to aquaplane more in wet conditions. For a track setup, those things wouldn't matter much, but for the street, it's not going to be very practical.
