Up to a couple of weeks ago (when my local dealer managed to reset the entire car back to it's defaults and wipe all the history) I had hit 40.7mpg for my average. Think the secret is I rarely do town driving or trips under about 20m, it's 50% m/way & dual carriageway, 45% country lanes or A roads and 5% town - if that. Modes are 5% Eco, 70% Comfort & 25% Sport/+

Since the 'reset' it's sitting at 37.1mpg at the mo. Think town driving is the killer, whatever the engine.

320ed and Just covered approximately 4000 miles. Mostly motorway at 70ish mph with some town. All time average 58.9mpg with the best journey 76.3mpg.

Just did Perth to Inverness and back today, on the A9, and manged 65mpg

That's on the OBC. I'm going to try B2B for the next few fill ups. Still dead chuffed though.

Today's trip was over 200 miles and the gauge is just below 3/4 full

F30 320 ED, 6000 on the clock, all time average is 47 mpg, mostly town driving with the occasional motorway trip. It still amazes me how a car that has that luxury feel to it, goes like stonk and can still return 47 mpg mostly just 'knocking around'. I've never stopped smiling ever since I bought it.

I'm now officially addicted to "hypermiling".

Glasgow to Aberdeen yesterday, 140 miles @ 60mph. 81.9mpg! (is that a record?)
Braked at Perth, Dundee and a couple of times in Aberdeen
At one point with 440 miles on the ODO it was telling me I had 420 miles left in the tank although the fuel gauge was sitting at over half suggesting it might be possible to get 900 miles out of a tank on a good run.

I must have had a tail wind as I didn't do so well on the way back with the final trip mpg being 73.9mpg. The sad thing is that after getting over 81 on the way up I actually felt hard done to with the "poor" mpg on the way back!

Same trip last time was 62mpg @ 75mph.

Those readings are OBC but based on Fuelly it seems to be within 3mpg or so.

Decent run at the weekend - Saturday to Bourmemouth with a mate of mine so had to go to St Neots first and then return journey Tuesday via Poole for diesel and stops at Fleet services and St Neots on the way home. Stuck to around 65-70 with occasional "burst" to 90 and averaged 67.9 mpg going and 71.6 on the return (according to the OBC). Only used "Comfort" mode both ways.

I think that the warmer weather (and no "winter" additives) makes a lot of difference.

Nice going. Still hovering around 64 mpg OBC on the work commute (60 miles M25 M1). Expected improvement with temps rising, word of caution though 64 mpg translated to 59.7 brim to brim

For me, this is rapidly turning into a sad game of "Driving Miss Daisy" down the M74 of a morning. Goes against the grain of traditional BMW driving.

What is the best anyone has achieved with the little light blue numbers. I think the best I managed was +125 miles.

How does that all work? Is is based on your last tank or average MPG? Not too sure.

As long as I can sit at a steady 80 on the motorway and see more than 16.9mpg then I am happy. No way I'm going to spend my life gentle on the throttle and 65mph to save a couple of quid a month.

Please don't misunderstand me. It's not what I want to do. I'm rapidly falling down that slippery slope of addiction and my drug of choice is MPG

I was more agreeing with your summary of the overall thread really.

Then how did you end up with an "ED"?

Good to see your input on this particular thread. Helps to put things into perspective.

I prefer to spend my money on ale rather than diesel so whatever I save is spent over the bar and gives me a great deal of pleasure. It's a good deal more than "...a couple of quid a month."

I'm a business driver and it makes good sense for me.
