My wife does...
And she even told me that with this sound, and the painted calipers, she wouldn't drive the car, will stick to her Mini...

Have you got the MPPK? Because during full acceleration the outside sound is covered by the "hasssssh" of the airbox intake (the MPPK one has an additional hole): try it
The "burbling" is surely pleasant, but my expectations were much higher.
Edit: seem many more videos of 340 now, and mine has barely changed at >1500 miles so, you've convinced me :-D

@DR_G - is your exhaust version 339 or 340?
I don't think you would be able to - mine is a 339.

It's a confusing picture looking at the parts numbers online; e.g in North America if you have a Canadian vehicle with manual transmission you can only get '339'.... yet for sports auto transmission it's the '340', whereas in the EU it's only listed as '339'.....

What's the oil temp at by that stage? What revs e.t.c? Only true way to compare would be to film two cars with the identical camera in identical conditions. If we had more technical detail about why there are two versions it might shed some light.

Also, you have to admit, in your video when pulling away under WOT it sounds awesome, and when you compare to the sound clips on the US BMW website it sounds the same:

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/acc...ies_sedan.html

(click through tabs 1-4 on the exhaust description)

I don't know about you, but the biggest difference I notice is from the cabin, especially when exceeding 4k revs (yes I have the MPPK) - it sounds amazing, and very different to the stock car, louder, different tone (crisper - stock sounds a bit 'flat' at times) and the nice 'thump' on the up-shift.

At the end of the day that is the most important vantage point, not what it sounds like from a camera sat by the exhaust when stationary revving.

Having said that I'm toying with the idea of a GoPro, if I do, I'll get more video, but actually of the exhaust note while the car accelerating
I wish you were right, because I'm very disappointed with 339 version.
But I can assure you that 340 sounds absolutely better: there are several videos on youtube where you can check it!
The US version sounds like the MPE of my old E91 335xi: simply amazing!!
My car under WOT sounds like a coffe pot
About the inside sound, your hi-fi is amplified or H&K version? Because in this case, maybe (I'm not sure, but maybe), the MPPK activated the ASD (Acrive Sound Design), the same system active from stock in M135i/M235i
Otherwise you can refer to the intake sound, wich is stronger: with MPPK (new MPPK with 335hp/340ps) they change the airbox with a new one with an additional hole (more air intake noise!).

@DR_G that's what I mean with 340 version:

And even better:

That's what I looked for and those were my expectations!

No, but I can take it next days and post it
It's an hole with a red border in the front part of the airbox (wich has the same shape than the stock one).
As a matter of fact, the N55 with MPPK has a stronger air intake sound ("hasssssh") under WOT

Wait, doesn't the orange opening allow the engine's hot air to flow directly into the intake? Or is it baffled separately away from the other intake pipe?

That opening is pointing forward behind the headlamp housing.

Does the 340 (US) M Performance exhaust have an exhaust flap, just like the stock exhaust does?

+1 but I suspect they have altered the fuel to air to accommodate the extra intake flow.

But I would also buy it alone for the sound

It's possible and other ppl have done it in another thread. The difference was minimal and can barely be heard in the cabin. The part cost about $190 from oem outlets.

Others have simply drilled holes to achieve the same thing. Airflow is not as efficient without the airhorn design but probably doesn't make much difference.

Finally got chance to get an exterior shot under load, sounds better than stock, but not like some 340 video's I've seen.

Edit: Damn cow's.... thought I'd trimmed them out of the clip!

Anyhow, here's another one, should probably be called 'BMW stalks bike through the long grass'...

Excuse me, but do you really consider it a good sound? Do you think it worth its price?
Exactly (and obviously) the same sound than mine: something similar to a coffee pot...
It will improve a little, but it will remain absolutely worse than US version (#340) and only a little better than stock.
BMW has made fun of us...

Edit: Having put more miles on the back, I'm now thinking that the difference in sound is purely down to the powerkit, and having seen some more 340 videos recently I'm.... irritated.

Last video from me, but I think the different camera angle (sorry it's in the grass, but I didn't want someone to find it and walk off with it while I was somewhere up the road!) captures the sound better:

I'm comparing to this video....

Quite strange. I did 4"9 on 0-62 with a not perfect start (too much wheel spin)... Try with Launch-Control

Mine is 2013 and it doesn't equip with Launch Control. Just did a research and find out Motortrend tested a 2012 335i with no MPPK 0-60 at 4.7 sec. How the hell that could happen?? Is it matter if I tested it during noon time with 80F degree outside?
