328xi "Friends and Family" deal? Is this good?

328xi - m sport, navi, lighting, HK Sound, moonroof, heated seats, sport auto

MSRP: $50,150
Sale Price: $48,168
Residual Value @ 65%
"Selling Rate" / Money Factor: .00135
Upfront MSD of $4,837
10k / year

Incentives: 750 Conquest + 1,000 test drive incentive coming this week

Final per month: $555

Couple questions here...they said the MF of .00135 was low and that .00127 is what they buy at and they can't negotiate down to that. Don't think that's going to impact the payment significantly anyway, but they didn't want to budget on that.

Also, residual of 65% is high i think, so that's good.

Final point - they said that they take a 6.5% profit margin, not 9% like most dealers so trying to calculate invoice at 91% of MSRP won't work. If I do 91% it ends up being $2,531.80 over which seems like an average deal at best. They claimed that this was a 'friends and family' deal since I know a guy who works there, not quite sure about that..looking for some input. Let me know if I missed any key figures.

Its an ok deal but nothing good or great. Could definately do better tho. With the MF at .00135 its only a $1 or 2 more than at buy rate(could be slighty more since I havent looked at it).

so just to confirm my math and figuring out what approach to negotiations i should be taking..first off is the MF, while its small I realized I should be moving that MF down as well due to the MSDs as follows:

BMW Offered MF: 0.00135
Base/Buy: 0.00127
MSD Reduction: 0.00078
Targeted New MF: 0.00049

So should I be getting them I want a MF close to .00049?

i just did the same deal with MSDs, even with a 925 acquisition fee added i got

4365 due at signing and 515 a month

your getting slammed with hidden fees in this deal it seems.

cool, what was the msrp on yours? similar rates I take it? They claim they have alot of 'prep' costs that go into the vehicle as follows:

Detailing: $300
Nitro: $49.95
Safety Inspection: $13.60
Tinted windows 35%: $229

So something around $600 total in those fees..still not a ton to move the needle..im going to take pics of the paper work to see if we can figure out where the hidden fee is

You have it backwards. The MSD reduction is .00049 for a new MF of .00078 from the base rate.

whoops yeah sorry that what i met..

Ok awesome guys thanks for the feedback..2 next step questions I would appreciate confirmation on:

First- I'm going to push hard to get that MF down to .00127, citing the fact that they tried to make me an offer at .00135 without even taking the MSD deduction which was unfair and would have resulted in me paying way more than i should had I taken the first offer they were comfortable giving me.

Second: The cap cost is seems high. If I'm following what was said earlier correctly, since the $1750 in incentives comes after everything, I shouldn't be too impressed with the reduction of $1,982 from MSRP? They claim that's where the 'friends and family' discount is. If the Cap Cost is going to go any lower, how can I argue for that? What sort of talking points do I need. Is there evidence else wehre that the reduction off MSRP on a 328xi should be greater than $1,982?

Does anyone have thoughts on these points?

When I run the numbers in bmwconfig, it lands at around $422/month after the MSDs...does that sound like a reasonable number i should be targetting?

great thanks! I might, I did all the math and final computations...came up an offered them 471/month which bakes in a $500 dealer profit which I told them was pretty good for less than an hour of CA time, 2 emails and a totally botched MF that they were willing to see me sign for.

Does that sound better? I haven't signed anything yet, and heck they havent even accepted but that's as high as I'll go
