What did they do to the suspension? Would the m sport package with adaptive suspension be the same as the f30 sedan? |

Love the looks of this car. Beats driving around in an SUV any day. I wouldn't expect saloon or station wagon fans to like it.
As far as the "boomerang vent", I saw it on several Jaguars, Rolls and Bentleys around town this week. Seems it's all the rage in the up markets. On the 3GT, it's functional. Read the sticky. |

I LOVE the tweaks to the front styling/grill area. I definitely think the front looks better than the F30 sedan. Sadly, the back is still pretty ugly. Much better than the 5GT tho.

You want to know who's getting this? My wife.
She's a former SAAB 9-3 driver, who later had a Honda CrossTour, and this is going to appeal to her. It sits higher and more rear legroom for family than the 3-series touring (a vehicle I love) and it has a functional hatch. We've gotten spoiled with the rear legroom of our E38 740iL and this car's longer wheelbase is provides some good space.

There is such thing as a good looking functional fender vent. This doesn't happen to be an example of that, however.

That's called a 4GC - the 4GT is just a "crossover" vehicle aimed at those (few people) who can't decide between a sedan and a SAV.

The proportionality shown in these live shots (which are typically more unforgiving than primped studio pics) is a welcome change from the ungainly 5-Series GT, and gives us hope that the car will be just as good-looking on the road." Last edited by ErnestHouse; 03-06-2013 at 10:00 AM.. |

GT configurater
Ernest, not sure if you are aware but you can configure a GT on the Belgian site. It's in French but it's easy enough to work out the meaning of most options.

I actually think this 3GT is just fine. looks way better than the 5GT. I think, ultimately, the benefits of GT > sedan or wagon has to do with the rear-seat comfort. If you are not planning on transporting adults in the back seat, you are not going to be happy with this car. If you have children in car seats, you may like the extra leg room, or you may just opt for SUV. However, if you like the 3er, but need more leg room and you feel the 5er is numb/boring, this might be for you.

mini ///M is totally idiotic. Totally un-BMW and certainly un-German.

While there's no dearth of opinions based on photos, seeing a design in person is different. I never understood the X6 until I found my head twisting off my neck as one went hunkering by with a beautiful gleam and muscular presence. I read all the 5GT bashing and then just a few days ago, saw one in the parking lot and found myself circling those lanes and staring.
But ultimately, the intellectual negativity and parroting of pundits only hurts BMW. It's fine if you like the touring or an SUV. You don't have to hate the GT to like them. They aren't better off if the GT was never built. It's not for you. Big deal. The M badge is nothing. Right now, the 3GT is the only thing that has me (and no doubt others like me) looking at a BMW. |

Better than I expected.
IMO, every current BMW looks better in person than in pictures, so I'm going to have to see one of these with my own eyes before I decide. With xDrive, a 335 might actually have some appeal. I do wonder why BMW has completely stopped talking about the X4, though. It seems like there will be a ton of overlap between that car and this one. Especially now that I see it.
