The big question for me is will the new suspension changes fix the crashy, clunky, brittle feeling the front suspension exhibits when going over moderate road imperfections... especially while in a corner??? New front struts seems like a good start, but the dampening needs new software as well.. hopefully they hit the mark with this; otherwise, I'm not interested and will probably move to a C450, S5, C63, or ATS-V (currently in a F30 335i M-Sport with DHP)

RFT=Run Flat Tires.

No need for a spare tire and you can ride on them at limited speeds for a limited time. They tend to ride rougher than go flat tires due to the stiff sidewall needed for the run flat feature.

Run Flat Tires.

No chance on the comfort seats on the F3x. Too expensive, too heavy.

Small thing, but I'm curious what kind of "new ambient lighting" there is. Couldn't tell from the pics but wondering if it's just more colors like the X5 or if they are placed in more areas other than the door cards and overhead console.

Personally I wish they made it brighter since it barely shows up on black interiors.

Definately. My wife has the tan interior set at half brightness and I have the black interior set at full brightness. Her's seems so much brighter.

BMW announced an LCI (not a new car) with totally new engines, new transmissions, new chassis/suspension, new steering, new navigation, new comfort/convenience features, and the LED lighting so many deemed a requirement. They also addressed another popular gripe by making the standard Lines and equipment better; even equipping standard Sport line features and adding flexibility with colors (read: brown leather on more lines). Do I need to mention there is now a track option with Pilot Super Sports included too?

What is the reaction? Foot stomping about how BMW didn't do enough! It "looks the same!" Very revealing guys! It shows what you actually value... Form over function.

Well said. This is exactly what I was hoping for. I really like the current F30 M sport and didn't want them to muck with it. Higher performance engine/trans is what I looked forward to. The track package is just icing, making it more than what I hoped for! I still reserve full judgment until we get all the details, but I, for one, am quite happy with the LCI.

Steering and suspension changes are welcome. Cant wait to try out an lci car, particularly the plug in version.

Hope there is a power kit in the works for the 340

Is the 340i M Sport that is in the press release photos Platinum Silver Metallic? If not ... what is that color on the 340i M sport and does anyone have any pictures of Platinum Silver Metallic?

Really? Did you read the press release provided on in the first post? I quoted the second sentence from it. Surely your math skills aren't that bad? You can't see that 14M is 25% of 56M?

From the press release, "Accounting for around 25 percent of total BMW worldwide vehicle sales, the BMW 3 Series Sedan and Sports Wagon represent the brand’s most successful model line with over 14 million sales globally. " (Source: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...41&postcount=1)

Here's a quote from the press release:
Sales climbed by 9.5% to 1,811,719 units (2013: 1,655,138 units)...Sales of the BMW 3 Series remained at a high level in 2014 with 480,214 units sold (2013: 500,332 units). The Convertible and Coupé models have been incorporated into the BMW 4 Series since the end of 2013, as a result of which, the previous year's total was not quite achieved. The BMW 4 Series performed exceedingly well, with sales volume of 119,580 units (2013: 14,763 units).
These [GM] figures seem incorrect, too. GM reported "In 2014, the company and its dealers delivered 9,924,880 vehicles around the world, surpassing by 2 percent the record set in 2013." Are you possibly mixing U.S. and global sales?

Those things said, I think that they might have meant "Currently Accounting for around 25 percent of total 2014 BMW worldwide vehicle sales, the BMW 3 Series Sedan and Sports Wagon represent the brand’s most successful model line with over 14 million lifetime sales globally."
??? I don't know why I bother posting on these forums.

The extent to which the actual sales per year of either BMWs cars or GM's cars is greater than what I quoted only makes even more implausible the likekihood of that BMW (not me) is incorrect in stating that BMW have sold 14M 3-series cars and that those sales comprise 25% of BMW's total car sales.

Maybe the information in the press release that opens this thread contains a factual mistake. What you suggest may be what they meant, but it's not what they wrote. I'm not a mind reader when it comes to what corporations that carefully craft their messages say. I don't put words in their mouths.

For example, you wrote "Your sales figures for BMW are incorrect." They aren't my figures for BMW; they are the figures that result only from using the information stated in the press release that began the thread, and I shared in my earlier post exactly how I arrived at 56M, which is a mathematically logical figure given the statement in the press release.

All the best.

Nice looking car...with the mid-cycle updates as promised. The taillights are 'ok'..other than the LED switch..all I see is the reverse light has been moved from top to bottom. Gotta love the more powerful engine, etc. Would I be bummed if I just bought a 335i? Not too much...and I won't pine for the 340 after getting my GC either. There's not a lot of room to play with the 328/428 numbers. There's already historically been a 330..but I guess they could bring that back in both iterations (330/430).

Interesting...makes me wonder if LED will be a more expensive option than Xenon for those wishing to upgrade from halogens...

Seem to be slightly more than the price of Xenons in Germany
Have heard the 340i will have LED standard in certain markets

I'm more interested in the steering and suspension changes. They probably had to do these changes because of the the new engine and extra power/torque. It could be all marketing or a real game changer, who knows. Will only find out when the real car is out.

I wonder what will be the price difference. I'm sure you won't be able to get a good deal for sometime.

Some minor concerns:
1. I kind of preferred the corona rings.
2. The fog lights on the M-Sport. I prefer no fog lights with a clean look.
3. Not really feeling the ///M badges on the fenders in the M-Sport.
