At the other hand, it would be sweet if it does work. And even better if I can find a video output for the two rear portables screens that I have collecting dust atm

U.S. drivers are oddly addicted to cupholders. Many cars in the U.S. are advertised as having X number of car holders, others are soundly criticized for not having them or if they are inadequate. It is a mystery to me.
The U.S. also adores large cars. Cars grow with each model iteration. |

I drive an F10 and we're at the point that we can code DVD in Motion, mirror fold with key fob, window rollup and sunroof close with key fob and a myriad of other options on our cars.
Using E-Sys and an ENET to OBD2 cable you should be able to do the same thing on the F30. All the information is available on the internet using simple google searches and if you search the F10 forums you'll find a lot of what you need to get started. There are so many options you can activate through this process it's amazing. Sean |

No, it's the same in the US. I'm betting it is a safety issue instead. You could press the lock button from around the corner and not see if there's a little kid with it's head looking in or out your car... I'm sure you don't want to close the window if that's the case (can give a mess lol)

While my list of missing Canadian features seems to grow by the week, this one appears to be a North American handicap. It's strange and counter-intuitive but there it is.

On a related note, the exterior mirrors do fold out again automatically when I drive off, but only after I hit 40 km/h (25 mph), which in my opinion is far too late. The doors automatically lock at about 20 km/h (12 mph) and would be nice if the mirrors folded out at about that speed too.

When I configure the car online it does not state that the mirrors fold with the premium package. It says auto dimming mirrors. I do not doubt that they fold in. I was just wondering if they were standard and not part of the premium package.

I found the topic ImSW1 was talking about: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=677171
Pretty cool to see what they can do now after that coding session.. hopefully this will be available for the F30 soon as well =)

That is sort of what I was talking about. I'm going to point you in the direction that we all kind of took to get this off the ground. The F10 folks are at the point that we're coding our vehicles ourselves and as a community helping others in the local area get the options they're looking for.
Don't get me wrong, the vendors provide a valuable service for the people that just aren't interested in dealing with coding themselves, and the unlimited coding deal that Alpine is offering is a bargain. I've attached a PDF that has links for you to look at when you have time. I'd just post the links but the board censors out some of the url's. All the information should get you on your way to coding your own vehicle if you are so inclined. Sean |
