I picked up my car on ED with exactly 1 (one) mile on the odometer. The brakes made noise during the victory lap inside BMW Welt.

I took it back to the dealer who first said, "Normal operation." When I insisted, they disassembled the brakes and "lubricated" them.

Now, absolute silence.

Did the BMWAG rep care when your car started squealing inside the building?

Lubricate brakes? Does that car stop now?

That's why "lubricate" is in quotes -- but I kid you not, that's what the service guy actually said.

Plus, we never stop for anything in MA -- brakes are optional.

The contact surface between the backing plates and caliper/piston are lubricated. Not the friction surfaces...

So at 1,000 miles my breaks are still squealing <10mph!!

I'll be bringing my car in tomorrow for service to hopefully take care of that and do some programming (Remember last for Auto Start/Stop & fold in side mirrors when car is locked).

Man, they don't have any loaners so they gotta shuttle me back. Sucks, but oh well, I'm going to be working from home anyways so I shouldn't go anywhere to stay focused.

Alright, I'll let you know tomorrow night when they give me my car back.

On a side note, I didn't bed the breaks initially because I just followed the manual, be gentle on the tires for the first 200 miles, be gentle on the breaks for the first 300 miles, and be gentle on the engine for the first 1,200 miles. I feather breaked for the first 600 miles, but after that I started getting the crazy loud squealing. So I tried to bed the breaks, and it went away, and is back again. I'm starting to think it's a design flaw.

I know. Its just funny when you hear lubricate the brakes.

One would think BMW would discover these issues when they test development and pre production cars. They probably did, but its more about delivering the baby and keeping workers employed, factories running and revenues.

All this nonsense is part of the reason why I've tried to stick with LCI cars. This will be my 1st pre-LCI BMW. Hopefully its not my last BMW...

Well, made it back from Long Beach BMW. They are totally useless, worst dealership in Southern California by faaaaaar.

They did not offer ANY solution for the squealing breaks, probably because they got to it at 4pm when they close at 5pm even though I dropped it off at 7am!!!

Also, they were not ready to reprogram my ASS!! They want me to bring it back next week, so I'm done with them.... Instead, I'm going to go to Crevier next time... The largest dealer in southern California...

Had squealing from day one here as well. Only under 5 kph. I went to the dealer, got them "lubricated" :-) but a day after, the squealing was back. I'm not going back, I'll wait for a real fix (if they finally offer one).

Otherwise, I'm going to upgrade pads to serious stuff next spring.

At least, if I have squealing brakes, I'll have real stopping power!

Well, even after the installation new rear rotors, etc. - the squealing is back.

Honestly I have no idea what the problem could be at this point. I think I'm going to demand the M Performance Brakes.

It's either that or they can have the car back. I'm not going to continue to bring it in every 2-3 weeks to have the brakes repaired.

For what it's worth folks, I had the squeal under 10mph too. I took it to the dealer and the Service guy said that it's actually the sensors that make the squeal. My pads and sensors were replaced and I haven't had an issue yet. It's been a few weeks since the swap.

I've had the pads replaced twice, the senors replaced twice, and most recently, the rotors replaced. Still squealing.

Jeez. That's crazy. Can a car be lemon'd for brake squeal?
