Yes, there are plenty of tests/reviews of the F30 for the 320d, 328i and 335i etc.... but none of the 330d as yet.

It's like they have "got bored" of testing the F30 and moved onto something else.

Yep....getting mine in about 11 hours!!!!! But the lack of reviews on performance has given me last minute heebie-jeebies.......I really hope I don't end up disappointed! Been looking forward to getting behind the wheel for a long long time...!

Dunno what all the fuss is about. It'll be as quick to drive as the outgoing 335D, what with it being almost as powerful and having the epic gearbox

although still in the break-in period, for me performance is certainly not bad (knowing that I come from a E89 sDrive35is)

I drive out of town too.

I think to be fair, driving a brand new car with no miles on it can be underwhelming. When I got mine new last year the drive back along the same motorway home did not feel quite the same as my old 330d E90 pre-LCI. Also the E90 LCI N57 (same engine as F30 but less power and torque) is more linear than the old one so it doesnt quite have the same on/off punch.
Although they say that the engines are run in when you get them, they are still tight as a duck’s ass and take a few thousand miles to loosen up and for the performance to improve a little bit more. My BMW dealer me that my car needed around 8K miles on the clock to be nicely loosened up.

Having said that, I find putting in BP Ultimate fuel makes a noticeable difference in performance, certainly for 6 cylinder diesels. I also found the same performance benefit in my old pre-LCI M57 engine. Believe me, I wouldn’t pay the extra and put it in if it made no difference. Last week I was on holiday and could not find a BP garage so had to put supermarket crap in it – what a difference . Felt like the car was loaded with 4 heavy passengers – with only me in it!!! Anyway, filled up with Ultimate this morning and felt like I’ve got my car “back” again. Far more responsive when you touch to throttle.

Best Car in the World?

Okay guys - it's good news, the 330d is a real cracker, absolutely stunning performer, took her out on the winding roads of North Yorkshire last night and what a treat!

I did try and control myself, she had only done 26 miles when I got her, I promised myself I'd run her in for the first 1000 miles but it was no good.

Very responsive and none of that turbo lag I got in my 3 litre E60, and that torque! An effortless surge that just kept growing, from 30 mph to crazy bonkers in no time at all, and that was without putting it in Sport mode.

The flappy paddles take a bit of getting used to but only because you have 8 gears to work through, you have to drop 2 or 3 at a time to get the most out of it. For a diesel it even sounds good.

In all honesty it is going to be a better driver than me to get the best out of this car and on a track rather than public roads, it's that quick. Guys (and gals) in my humble opinion it IS a real contender for that title!

I have seen claims of real world figures varying from 20mpg to 40mpg. 30 to 40 is acceptable but low 20's is definately not and I am tied in for 2 years this time so took the safe option.
The 20mpg is surely only if you drive it like a loon. I would have gone for a 328i if BMW had the low rate finance on petrols too.

I would have been able to go manual, and would have had a £4k subsidy for fuel....more than enough

I'm still able to restrain myself and NOT go for the WOT during break-in ...

note to myself: go out and drive until the break-in period is over

Actually, a soft break in is not good for a modern engine. Ring seal will be poor, leading to long term seal problems............so go out there and give it some

actually I always hear opposite things regarding break-in ...

I don't drive it slow, I try to keep it below 3500rpm (by lifting my foot a bit so the AT shifts up before 3500rpm) or using the paddles
