I've been REALLY eyeing the Akra. I wish I could find some sound clips from inside the cabin, though. That seems like the *most* important facet of a new exhaust...

Why do you recommend it?

It isn't loud inside the cabin, overall the cabin in the F30 doesn't let much exhaust noise in.

If you want a garage made exhaust from guys that used to sell fake exhaust get the GTHAUS exhaust. If you want a quality exhaust without any drone at all and an amazing but never annyoing sound get the Akrapovic.

Isn't the Akra only available for the 335i? Not sure if it would fit the 328i without some custom fabrication.

Oh, I agree. I didn't realize it was for the 328i. Pretty sure Akrapovic only makes them for the n55.

they are not comparable. you should compare Meist SUS - GTC with Akrapovic EVO. IF you can bear the drone, Meist sounds bad ass... i'd admit Akra has top notch quality. my next M4 will get the Akra since i will have family sitting there most of the time.

if you are young, go crazy man! YOLO (you only live once)

or you could get MPE with custom make CF tips.

I don't necessarily want 'loud'. I just want a little more than what the stock gives you without being overbearing. But after trying a performance exhaust on a recent 328 and being somewhat disappointed by the in-cabin experience (sounded great on the outside, not so much on the inside) I really need some in-cabin samples to pull the trigger.

Outside the car it sounds a lot more but as I said, inside the car it is maybe 25% louder. I don't think an in-cabin video will help you that much so the best option would be to see if someone close by has one installed and check it out in person.

As always with exhaust videos they sound pretty lame compared to what it sounds like in real life. I wouldn't buy an Akrapovic after listening to my own videos but I freaking love it everytime I start the car.

I don't think you will find a better balanced exhaust when it comes to great sound and absolutely no drone in the cabin.

You're probably correct that an in-cabin video wouldn't do much, but it's better than nothing.

Also, you make your own exhaust videos?

Is the Akro installation non-destructive to the stock exhaust? I know for the MPE at least they have to cut.

I did some videos when I first installed my Akrapovic and uploaded them here (there is a thread in the N55 forum). I'll see if I can take some better videos soon, need to put on my summer wheels first as there is no traction with the winters on.

And yes, the Akrapovic is a bolt on so you can swap them without breaking anything.

People (and soon me too) are fitting the 335i OEM exhausts to their 328i, it´s doable. But you will either have to tweak the stock exhaust pipe or the muffler pipe, so if you are gonna do it make sure you really want to do it. I´m still waiting for my 335i MPE to arrive, will make a few slits on the end of its connecting pipe to make sure i can clamp it good and tight over the slightly smaller stock pipe where I will have cut the OEM muffler. That way I wont have to weld... well, I won´t do anything cause my cousin will :-)

But if you go with the Akrapovic, my advice would be to tweak your stock pipes since they are cheaper to replace cause you will probably wanna take it off to sell at some point in time (when u get rid of the car perhaps)... that way you won´t have made any damage to it and it will P&P with the next car it sits on

Sweet, I'm keeping my eye on the Akro then. Thanks for the info, and if you make some new videos I'd love to hear them.

First things first, however. The PPK.

I borrowed a GoPro with a suction mount today so I'll upload some later this week.
