How long does "waiting to be released to the carrier" usually take?
The car's been done with production for at least 2 weeks now, and i kept calling the 1-800 number and it's still giving me that status that it's waiting to be released to the carrier. How much longer do I have to wait for a West Coast delivery?

They need a free space on a boat that is stopping @ your port. Takes time. If its been @ port for 2 weeks, I suspect it will load on next boat going out West. Check the shipping schedules if you want to know more. Patience pays.

Ordered a German-build 335 M Sport in late October and it came out of production, awaiting delivery to carrier, on November 6.
Today the status changed to "being transferred to port of exit". My car is being made in Regensburg, about 7 hours by truck to the port. So far things have moved quickly. We shall see... |

Is the plant code on VINs still hard to determine or is that widely available now? |

Probably more like 4-5 weeks. Still has to get to port (status 193) then be selected for ship load (194). 12-18 days on water then processing at VPC (minimum 3-4 days, usually more like a week) before trucking to dealer.
