I decided on having my N20 6MT ECU flash tuned by the guys at Bimmer Performance Center (BPC) in Raleigh after doing what I thought was borderline obsessive amounts of research about a tune and also being a 25-30 minute drive from their shop. I dropped off my car around noon and it was finished up around 5:30pm. The car feels spectacular. Like it was 'meant' to be this way - pulls hard and quick all the way to redline and just feels like a fully finished OEM level tune. I spoke directly with the tuner (Bob) about my concerns and goals. While I certainly was after a great hp/tq increase over stock I was also concerned about safety and reliability as I do track the car semi-regularly at VIR during the warmer months. He assured me that he would tune with that in mind and if necessary sacrifice 5-10 hp to make sure it was ultra safe and smooth. While it will be a few months before I can track test it it feels great just driving it and powering out of the corners on my favorite back roads and pulling to merge on the freeway.

Stock baseline: 225whp/265wtq
Stage One tune only: 256whp/310wtq

Peak hp/tq gains: 31hp/54tq

Neat. What's their process for flashing - drill or disassemble DME?

I believe they had to drill a tiny hole as it couldn't be disassembled without damage.

some drill it...but it sacrifices water/moisture prevention imo. Seen some just put a sticker over the hole. The BMW design has a resistor GLUED to the cover..so if you pry the cover off..it bricks the DME. GSR did mine..you can't tell it's been touched ...which is why I don't like the drilled hole..its a tale-tell giveaway to a dealer..

Nice power bump btw...very nice. Enjoy!
