What is a Blow-by heater?
Just got the VIN through for my 335i today and put it into BMWVin.com to check the spec. One of the items that came up was this:
S4NEA BLOW-BY-HEIZER Blow-by heater Anyone know what that is? |

Option 4NE. Here is a description I copied.

It is a small convienience for those of us in a cold climate where we will be out of the car for a short amount of time but want to keep the car warmer while we are gone. |

I noticed the same thing on my order and found the same post that E34 quoted. But F30 doesn't have the REST function, right (at least in the US)? Do other markets get it?

From another forum thanks to Powderguy:
"...just found out what the Blow By Heater option ,04NE, really is. This is a addition to the N55 motor in which excess "blow-by-heat" is funneled to an air tube that may tend to freeze up in colder climates. Not the Heat at Rest I wanted." The part shown on Real OEM looks just like the part described by MMMMM... and at the DBK website. here is the translated link: http://translate.google.com/translat...M1mzkwBZqlCNRQ The part number is 11127584128; although it is not listed as 4NE on the F30 section of Real OEM if you search the part # you will see it listed on many other vehicles and described as: "Vent hose For vehicles with Blow-by heater = Yes (S4NEA = Yes)" It is maybe listed as an option because it is only for specific climates...colder ones. Maybe some Florida, or other hot temp US states, owners could chime in and let us know if they also have S4NEA aka 4NE Blow By Heater option? Last edited by E34; 08-17-2012 at 05:38 AM.. |
