Key fob battery is good, but sometimes says put next to steering column
I put a new battery in my key fob 4 weeks ago, it used to say low battery, but thats gone now.
About a month later, now my car DOES NOT say low battery for the key fob, but sometimes it asks me to hold the key next to the steering column. Can't figure out why. I dont think it has to do with the battery at all. Any ideas? 2018 BMW 430i Convertible |

i just had this happen to me, started using my second key as the first one asks to be put next to steering column intermittently. just writing off the key fob RF transmitter as dying, I tried everything and I assume the only way to fix it is to get a new key.
