Easy install. I usually sit fairly back in my car so when I engage the clutch I rarely push it all the way back, so for me there wasnt much of a huge difference, however in heavy traffic it did make it less work getting in and out of first. I say it's worth the 10 bucks, it does make it shorter and easier to shift but it's not life changing lol

I ordered both, too.
Of the ones I received, the eBay unit was slightly thicker than the BMS unit, plus I liked the metal spacers better than the foam - so I installed the eBay unit. While I wouldn't call it a "night and day" difference, it does make for a more positive feel. Overall, I'd consider it a worthy investment and I'd do it again. Hey guys, sorry for dredging up an older thread, but wanted to ask if anyone has used a threaded clutch stop (elevator bolt) in the F30. I am coming out of an e46 and had an elevator bolt clutch stop for the past 10+ years, which worked great. I removed it in hopes of using it in the F30, but noticed the BMS stop discussed in this thread seems to be a flexible plastic rivet.
Has anyone used a threaded bolt in the clutch stop hole? If so, you could probably build one yourself for cheap using parts available at a local hardware store. I'll have a look later tonight, but any feedback from others who have tried is helpful. Thanks, NicB. |

Recently got the BMS version and went to install today. Couldn't get my hand back there in my 2017 340i, and couldn't find any newer instructions, so thought I'd post up my install with pics. If I wasn't taking pictures, I could have completed in in about 15 minutes.
It's just the two 10mm nuts that need to come off, don't need to mess with the torx head screws that attach the airbag. Airbag stays in place when panel comes off. There are 3 clips in the front, just need to pull down on the panel and it will come off. I could then get my hand up there, but decided to take the panel all the way out. The light and speaker connectors are easily removed. Old clutch stop (white circle). Just pull it out. New clutch stop. I removed one of the rubber washers...wanted to try this first. Replace the panel, and the 2 nuts...and all done. Here's another picture of the panel for reference. Feels better already, but will report back after I drive it a bit. |

I just discovered there is also a third clutch stop we can buy…
There's the OG BMS one. The Ebay one (which looks like BMS's but with metal washers). And this one from ECS: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...025851ecs01~a/ It looks like a PITA to install though, as you have to drill a slightly bigger hole where the OEM clutch stop was inserted, so you can put their nut that the clutch stop screws into. I'm sure it's a more solid choice than the above 2, but if the above ones, especially BMS which has been around forever, don't have any issues long term, I'm not sure if it is worth the bother? Anyone ever hear of any failures of the BMS one long term? . |

Installed the OG from eBay on my new f30. Just like all my previous bimmers this is a must. There is absolutely no need to remove any panels, just reach under through the rubber slits around pedals and pull the OEM stop out and stick a new one in. It literally took less than 30 seconds.

I'm so excited I found this thread! If you have long legs, the stock clutch throw and the throttle pedal are mismatched, if you're going to press the pedal all the way down when you shift. Basically you have to have the seat too close for comfort, where the seat is the correct distance for the clutch but too close for the throttle. I'm hoping this clutch stop fixes this problem. Anyone else experience this? Will report back...

Just tried installing the BMS and it was a piece of shit. The plastic bolt bent and wouldn’t push it and the foam on the end compressed immediately. I had the eBay one on my E90 and it’s held up great for 9 years. Should have ordered that one first
