I experienced both of these problems on my M Sport f30 335i, and both did resolve with time (brake dust diminished and squealing eventually went away.). |

435 vs stingray
I currently have a 135 with the M Package. convertible 2011 with 17,000 miles. I was considering leasing 2014 435 M package but my friend put this bug in my ear about the new stingray after reading about it it seems like it's a super car for bargain prices. Any thoughts or comments?

I have picked up mine in Munich on 12/6 and I drove it to the airport. That was my only test drive and coming from an E92 2013 M3 I was disappointed on several issues. Suspension too soft for my taste, the steering also lacks tightness and the feeling that when I pointed the M3 the response was immediate . I miss the M-DCT, I wonder why they didn't included that transmission for the 435i M-Sport. The manual mode still feels like an automatic. No rev matching on downshifts. I think BMW has improved on the iDrive and rear camera since it always has been behind Audi and Lexus. Can't wait for the M4!

Well, my idea of rev matching is the closest to heel and toe on a dual clutch transmission. There is a big difference between that and a torque converter.

I just traded in my S4 with a DSG transmission. Yes it was good, but very quirky at low speeds and stop and go traffic. I have to say I like the new ZF 8 speed auto much better.

Since you brought it up...
I've got about 200 miles on my new 428i, so still in the break-in period. So far, so good. This is a great car, my sixth BMW. The last three were an e36 M3, an '08 335i and a '10 335d. Between the 335d and this car, I owned an '09 Cayman S. The car is EB/black Dakota with M Sport, ZMM, ZDA, ZPP, heated seat, Nav and HK stereo. Love it... Initial impressions - I'm extremely impressed by the balance of this car. The little 2.0 is very spirited, very responsive and eager to rev. It definitely feels (and is) faster than the M3. Fit and finish is excellent, with plenty of usable features that make it a great daily-driver, something the Cayman was not. I am amazed at how quickly this car hustles, which I chalk up to the gearing and the speed of the 8-speed ZF. Very impressed, and I can say I don't miss the Cayman 6MT one bit. Steering - with each generation, it feels more and more isolated. I wish there was more feel, but it is what it is. It is still better than the Audis I have driven, and is still very precise and responsive, just lacking feedback through the wheel. The car is *very* flat on tight corners. It takes a few corners to trust it, but there is very little roll, and like virtually every review has stated, the lighter 28i is really nimble and accurate. Having gone in expecting to come out with the ballsier 435i, I decided to take a step back in power and go for more balance and precision, and I like it. If I need more oomph down the road, there are options which will not add weight. |

I ended up with a 335i M Sport so not being a 4 series owner I don't know if I'm allowed to express an opinion. But I will say I love the styling of the 4 series. I bought the 3 for practical reasons, and it's a nice looking car, but the 4 is just beautiful. BMW has finally emerged from that awkward styling phase they went through and their new designs are fantastic. The cars anyway, I won't comment on the SUVs. If you want to drive a car that turns heads and gets second glances, a nicely optioned 4 series will certainly get the job done.
I'm not going to comment on the engine because there are plenty of opinions on that. I think if you drive the 8 speed auto you will be quite impressed with the transmission. The steering, not so much. If you've had earlier model 3 series, you might be a little disappointed in the steering. I'm sure they did what they could with the electric power steering, but it just doesn't have the feel that the earlier cars had. I think that would be my only criticism of my car. The M Sport suspension is fine, perhaps a little soft for some but the handling is excellent so you can't argue with the results. The M Sport brakes are very attractive with the huge rotors and blue painted calipers, certainly worth the small amount they charge for that option. The regular brakes will stop the car just as well but there's nothing wrong with having pretty brakes. The Harmon Kardon sounds good and is also well worth the price. Someone made a comment about getting the special iPod cable. You don't need it any more. Just any regular USB iPod cable. Also I think you can play MP3s from a flash drive, and I know you can save up to 20GB of music onto the Nav. hard drive. That might be part of the Technology Package. Mine has the "Sport Automatic Transmission" and I honestly don't know what that consists of, other than there's a switch to put it in Sport mode. And shift paddles on the steering wheel. You won't see a 435is with DCT etc for a few years, they have to sell as many of these as they can first, then as many M4s as they can, then you'll see more stuff offered on the 435. |

Simply it is an amazing car, I pass from an F30 328i Sport Line to an F30 335i Sport Line to an F32 435i MSport and I can tell you that there is really a big difference. 435i is more beautiful, a lot of style, fun, easy to handle, fast, smooth, etc.
Just test drive it by your self |

I went from a '12 Audi A5, MT, with APR Stage 2. IMO the Audi is the winner in external looks. As for the interior, the 435i is the hands down winner. I don't believe comparing the A5 to the 435i is an apples to apples comparison based on engine size alone.
It's been a long, long time since I owned a BMW. My first one was a '71 2002, bought new while stationed in Germany. Unfortunately it only lasted three weeks before I totaled it. The replacement 02 lasted three years until it got totaled in the states. I had a Bavaria and a RT100RS sometime after the 02's. The 435i is just plain fun to drive. Not only does it handle well, it just feels damn good behind the wheel. There are better handling cars out there, however, for the money you get one hell of a great package! The car gets a lot of looks here in Huntsville, AL and I believe that's due not only for its looks but also since it's probably the only 4 series in the area. If anyone wants to know how the car handles, simply go to your closest BMW dealer and test drive one. That should put a smile on your face. |
