That explains the closed deck then:
Closed deck With the closed-deck design, the coolant ducts around the cylinder are closed from above and provided with coolant bore holes. This design is mainly reserved for BMW diesel engines. Due to the high combustion pressures in the diesel engine, a greater degree of rigidity is required in order that the forces can be safely absorbed. As the gasoline engine uses the same unfinished cast part as the diesel engine, it also benefits from this robust design. |

Forged Crank and 8HP50 tranny (368 ft. lbs vs 332 on 8HP45) are 2 things that stood out. Does this engine use the same size turbo as N55?

Looks like the car uses 4G LTE now as well instead of 3G for the TCU (if properly equipped).

I have no idea if this is a reason, but one of the downsides to the electric pump is that when it wears out and fails it does so with no prior warning. One second it's working and the next it isn't.

So what pushes the coolant around after you turn the engine off so you do not cook your turbo?

IIRC, there was a secondary coolant pump (electric) on the B58 for cooling the turbos.

Forged crankshaft with 2 counterweights per bearing, same as the S55. The N55 has a cast iron crankshaft with 1 counterweight.
I bet we will see some massive power from this engine by tuners in the future. |

I checked - 6NS uses a different TCU. In a sedan, replacing it would require removing the headliner. Fortunately for me, wagons have it in the trunk. Still, the part is over $400. |

They went with a smaller turbo.
They also took out the use of the direct air intercoolers! Take a look at pages 46-47. Since they went that route I assume tuners wont be get lower IAT with out going meth or water injection? |

I think there is still a direct air IC, but the intake manifold now also has a coolant powered IC.

The manifold has a Air to Coolant (water) Intercooler similar to the M4/3
Good idea as leaves less tubing more compact setup
