Check this site out for those who are interested for the BMS JB1 and other mods. Im very pleased on how good the dynos looked on their end with the BMS, including other mods...

It's something wrong with some of the numbers here. BMW says the car makes 240hp and the Dyno says 236 whp stock. Someone's gotta lie, and I suspect it's BMW

The BMS JB Stage1 uses a similar technique to fool the DME but with addl sensor data available to it has a more sophisticated algorithm.

The Stage2 upgrade kit is basically a new control box and 4 extra wires that plug in to give the tune full CAN access. Which opens up a whole new world on the tuning end. I'm hoping they will do some dyno testing next week for me to share. Their 328 has had the Stage2 BETA on it for a couple weeks now.

Mike, will the Stage 2 add more hp/lb-ft? Or just new features?

The key is not looking strictly at the peak numbers, but rather the gains. Every dyno will give you different peak numbers, but the gains should be fairly consistent.

Now that you said it makes sense.

After looking at various dyno numbers it is widely accepted that the n20 is underrated and winds up often putting it's crank rating to the wheels.

On a load bearing dyno I left with 260wtq on a stock car with catback. Should be over 300 with the tune.

They are hoping for nice power gains. I'm not sure what they will be on pump gas, maybe only 10hp, but they are expecting big gains on the Stage2 E85 and race gas tuning.

With all this being said, I wish they also did the same thing with the aFe Scorcher module to see how much you gain exactly with that tune. Then compare it to BMS.

By utilizing those two sensors only, I don't think boost pressure is touched. Instead, I think it modifies the AFR and TPS voltage to achieve results - pretty genius if you ask me, and it should be a very safe and reliable tune for these reasons.

Install is a 5 minute affair, very easy to install and remove.

Fuel economy has improved for me - in two full tanks since install, MPG went from 29.1 to 30.5 and 30.3 per tank. That's with the same driving behavior before & after - commute to/from work.

That being said, the aFe solution likely will not have an upgradeable Stage 2 like the BMS tune, as there aren't any accessible ports.

You can't go wrong with either choice IMO. I went with aFe for the ease of install and reliability in how it goes about achieving the power increase (not touching boost pressure).
Are you going to take it in for a dyno run? If so, please post up the results. It would be awesome to see what the gains are like, rather having the numbers come from aFe.

Has the tune given you any trouble for servicing?
