When the distance between you and the car in front of you closes in too quickly, it throws up a car icon on the HUD and in the cluster - similar to this pic. If the car gets REAL close, there's also an audible beeping. You can set "early" or "late" warning in Idrive.

Okay, got a cool one if you have rear entertainment. You can put a video on all three screens (front and two rear). But, if you leave the car running and want to go so somewhere for a few minutes, a message will go on the idrive screen complaining the key fob is missing with the engine running. But, here is a trick if you want to have the video continue to play on all three screens whine you leave the car for a few minutes. Trust me, this looks sweet when you have video on all three screens. In fact, I have a BMW trailer that show the BMW logo on all three screens and it plays in an endless loop. It looks really cool. But, the idrive message complaining the key is missing screws it all up. So here is what you do: 1. Get video to play on all three screens whine engine running. 2. Exit car (car is in park) 3. Open trunk. 4. Depress lock button on fob to lock car. 5. Press the right side (lock) button on the inside of the trunk lid. This will close trunk and lock car. But, it also keeps nasty idrive message from ruining your front screen display. Make sure you follow step 4 above or this button is deactivated while engine running! |

The Route Info shows each segment and it's length. As you complete a segment, they will disappear from the list dynamically. You can select any one of the segments and the right hand window (cropped out here) will show the segment on the map. I use this feature a lot and find it really handy. |

Perfect. This is exactly it. Thank you. I still fail to see any real world benefits for a warning system like this. It doesn't do any active braking, or even assisted braking for you, like a Volvo would. It's merely a warning icon and chime. WHY? I'm already freaking out about crashing, so while you're stating the obvious is appreciated, it really is unnecessary. |

This came with the ACC Stop&Go and fitted with that the car will actually brake right before the collision (when ACC is deactivated, otherwise the situation would never happen) but not completely and not enough to save you from impact. So it does more than just warn, but I dont think anyone wants to try and confirm it... or?

CA + PAssenger door
If the car is unlocked from the passenger door via Comfort Access the seats do not adjust to the passenger's fob setting.
For example: My wife has her key in her purse, I have mine in my pocket. She makes it to the car first and unlocks the car at the passenger door using CA. My seat settings remain. |

I finally can contribute to this thread! I found an alternate trunk release button besides the one in the glove box. It's above the hood release and below the light switch. It's really difficult to see. It's small but there. I had to push it to made sure it worked. It looked like such a random placed button.

Displaying current gear in Drive
I saw someone asking how to get the display to read current gear instead of "D". If you move the auto stick to the manual side without touching the paddles or stick up or back, it will display current gear as S1, S2, S3, etc.

not sure if mentioned already. My car has launch control. Push in the clutch, engage first gear, floor the gas pedal, it will not rev above 3,500 rpm. Release the clutch and hang on, launches like a jet

BTW, the 8 speed sport auto has a safety launch feature as well, in case you MT guys don't rrealize all the action you are missing out on. Find a good strip of pavement (hopefully it's a nice warm and dry outside, to get the tire temperature up to where it's just right). Activate the eco-pro mode, and floor the gas. It won't go over 40mph for the first 2 minutes. |

I love the fact that the car will keep my heated seats or A/C settings on even after I turn it off! I think there's a 15min memory!

(Auto transmission) in sport mode, if you down shift and accelerate rapidly the brakes will be prepared for you in anticipation of you needing to brake hard. Much less brake travel and harder braking.
Not sure what the technical name for the function is. |

Had this on my E92. Mom needed my car for something, reached over to turn on the heated seat, accidentally swiped finger across first 2 buttons, hilarity ensued.
Called me in a panic saying she broke my navigation. Good laugh enjoyed by all

For those with Stop/Go adaptive cruise control .......if you press the distance (up or down buttons) for a few seconds it switches off the adaptive bit and acts like normal cruise control. Press and hold again to re-engage. Cool
