no no no please no.
the finished product looks alright but just not my thing.
please please please bmw do not make a M4GC. you made the 2 4 and 6series just to be coupes....but then u added 4 and 6 series GC....it makes no sense...if u want a 4 door buy a m3 or m5 that's my 2 cents.

Yea the M badge is a mistake but at least the OP was smart enough to not just put some lame fake M replica bumper cover from eBay on his ride.

Been a long time lurker on this board. Thanks to a lot of you members/vendors contributing knowledge on all aspect about BMWs, I’ve learned so much about my car and one day finally pulled the trigger and began my modding journey. I own 2 other cars but I’ve never had slightest thought on mods in the past before I joined this forum lol. Now that I’ve done some mods thats pretty crazy to me, thought I’d share with you guys.

I’ve always wanted a 4 series since it came out and of course M4 would be awesome. But I really do need four doors though and I’ve always been a big sucker for the gran coupe concept. The 3 series body lines just don’t click with me and I think I’ll definitely regret it later if I forced myself into an M3. So I opted for the weaker 435i Gran Coupe instead but the temptation to make it go faster and look wilder has always been there. So yeah, the big mod I did on the cosmetic side so far was converting the front section into M4 using all oem parts (hood, 2 fenders, front bumper, bunch of internal pieces, etc). I had this conversion project in mind long ago and bought the oem 437 M4 wheels with stock tires to prepare for it. Thanks to the already aggressive rear fender flares on stock 4 series, the rear wheels are sticking out only by a tiny bit. Really hard to notice and its mostly rubber anyways, will probably be a complete flush when I switch to a smaller tire later when tread runs out. Personally I think it looks just fine and these wheels definitely give a much better stance than stock. On the other hand, the front is not so lucky and they do protrude quite a bit by my taste and WILL rub sometimes. That’s the scary part and is also the reason I wanted to first get the front done to make proper room for wheels.

I am currently on stock suspension set up, but there is 8mm spacer on each side of the front wheels to compensate for wider M fenders. I am no tuning pro but I have to say, having driven both regular 435 and actual M4, the extra 16mm track width in the front really transformed the way this gran coupe tackles corner. There used to be a combination of understeer and body roll on higher speed even after swapping on the wider M4 wheels, but right now understeer is TREMENDOUSLY reduced and overall cornering ability is much, much better than stock. After testing on the Malibu canyon roads, I feel the car is much more confident with turn ins and much more composed going though constant twists and turns. There is still body roll that make it feel a bit reluctant to corner sometimes, but it tend to roll more towards the rear end and WILL turn and do what I tell it to do if I just give it gas and sit tight.

I think other than simply getting a better aftermarket suspension, the extra track width definitely play a major role in performance handling. I understand that differences in suspension geometries make M cars whole different animals, I’ll look into it and see if there are any bits we can safely carry over like the M wishbones confirmed by HP Autosports on this forum. Meanwhile, I’m looking to do custom rear fender widening and bring out the rear wheels with spacers as well. I’m really looking for custom work that requires cutting and molding on metal fenders rather than simple fender rolling, so if any of you know good places with awesome craftsmanship in the CA area (LA preferably) please hook me up. Much appreciated!

Since BMW is not going to build a F36 version of M4, I figured I'll just build one myself. It's not going to be a true M car, but I want it to at least make good horses to compensate for weaker handling. Those of you who run engine tunes/mods and have recommendations please chime in as well! Been looking at Enzo flash for a while now and love the reliability(stories heard so far) over piggybacks but still a little hesitant because I'm a novice modder and have never messed with engine before lolll

Sorry for the iphone pics guys. I feel some of them are slightly distorted through iphone lenses but I tried from many different angles =)
I agree the car look great and you did an amazing job but people will point out that M badge.

I wouldn't talk Mr. M435i with M4 badges front and rear.

At least he didn't do that:

Daaaamn Dang3r!!!!

To OP. I'm a big ///M badge protector as well but hey if BMW can badge an M235i I guess you can badge an M Grand Coupe. It does have M parts like the M package

Nonetheless I respect the whip looks good

Spent a lot of good money on this project that could be equated to a base F80 like mine lol. They don't look anything like F30s btw you should've just kicked out the extra cash towards one. But nice project nonetheless.

I agree. It's great and all that you want to mod the look of your car but no need to call it something it's really not.

I guess they didn't understand what I meant when I asked them to erase the "4" on the fender grill badge haha

But wow, I didn't expect this much negativity towards conversion mod on gran coupe from some of you. Thought I was creating something very unique rather than being a poser M4
I'm not a fan of negative commentary around this mod. You have a great car stock, I was at the press launch for 4 Series GC and have to say it's a capable, fun car.

As for the mods, they look great for what you're trying to accomplish and best of luck with the rear conversion! I'm a real fan of the 4 Series GC (and the 6 GC). I personally don't need 4 doors so I have the M4 but if an M4 GC existed, I'd really considered it.

I'd caution the Enzo tune. I don't know how good it is for BMW but a friend HAD the Maserati flash from them and it caused a bunch of issues. Be careful!
