F32 LCI Taillights Installed on ALPINA
Finally installed the F32 LCI taillights on my B4.
I believe you have already seen some similar reports posted in this forum, but let me also share my experience just for your reference. < BMW PART NUMBER - EU VERSION > 63217426055 - Rear light in the side panel, left 63217426056 - Rear light in the side panel, right 63217426051 - Rear light in trunk lid, left 63217426052 - Rear light in trunk lid, right < RETROFITTING > The outer lights are literally plug ’n play. No need to swap the connector pins like F30/F31. As for the inner lights, you need to use a retrofit harness to convert the connectors and to add extra signal lines for blinkers. < HARNESS FOR INNER LIGHTS > At first I was thinking about making a retrofit harness for myself, but I decided to use the harness from alpina-527 to save time. Anyway it worked flawlessly. < INSTALLING THE HARNESS > Route and secure the cable from left inner light to the existing harness, then pull the loom end into REM control unit near the battery in the trunk. < CONNECTING TO REM > Disconnect the connector A174*13B from REM and insert the terminal pins of new cables into the pin sockets as follows; - Cable from the left light to PIN No.5 - Cable from the right light to PIN No.13 < RETROFIT CODING > Next up is… coding! I added HO-wort HELC (=LCI_REAR_LIGHT) and VO coded the REM to have it transmit indicator signal/power to inner blinkers over new retrofit cables. I think this way is a lot sexier than tapping the power from outer blinkers. Very easy, isn’t it? It just took about one hour to get everything done. ENJOY THE VIDEO!

I never knew the license plate lights dimmed when the car was in reverse. It makes perfect sense, reduces the glare from them in the camera but that's a new one on me!

This is an aftermarket license plate LED but it's only available in Japan AFAIK. Another option is coding. Please try the method below I posted in another forum. Bimmerfest - Licence plate light brightness when backing up Cheers,

is the blinker different than a 3 series? yours seems to flow with the lines, while the 3 series is a fixed angle.

Yes, the 4er has a different shape. The 3er's blinker draws a straight line.

Sorry this is probably a dumb question, but which is pin #5 and #13? I'm not familiar with the numbering convention on these connectors. Thanks.

You can figure out the numbering when you disassemble the connector.

Funny, coming from the UK I like the red! Was disappointed my first couple cars here had orange, guess it is the novelty factor!
