Service intervals for 435i

I am trying to find what BMW recommends to be replaced/checked during each service visit. As the owners manual states "on condition", it's hard to find any information anywhere.

So when does BMW replace time/use limited parts (air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, coils, fluids, etc)?

Back in the old days, the manuals tell you when to replace or check for components, so the consumer is aware. It seems that BMW does not want the consumer to have that knowledge.

Much of that is in the Maintenance and Warranty booklet that's in your car's document package (not in the manual.)

Coils and fuel filter are lifetime, BTW.

Thanks, will check it out. Surprised that it's not in the owners manual.

I looked, and didn't find that manual. In my document package I had the owners manual, a quick reference manual, an iDrive manual, and some book listing licences for media.

Is there one located online?

bmwusa.com - easiest to search for "manual". They've moved everything around...

Lifetime fuel filter?

No way.

I'm only relating what BMW says. As Mike Miller says: "the fuel filter lasts until it's lifetime is up". It's part of the fuel level/pump assembly, in the fuel tank, and is not really all that easy to replace, btw.

FYI, I just had the fuel filter on my 335d replaced - every third oil change, around 30K miles.

Got it.

I changed the transmission fluid on my E46 every 50,000 miles, regardless of what BMW says about it being "lifetime." I plan to do the same with my F30.

We're talking about the filter in the gas tank. It has been this way for over 10 years and the failure rate is obscenely low.

Diesels have a secondary fuel filter that has a maintenance interval.

My fathers E38 had lifetime trans fluid which eventually led to the transmission taking a shit. I guess they meant "lifetime of the component".

So I talked the the SA at my dealership. The maintenance interval for component replacement is calculated by the car itself. When you bring it in for a service, they will plug their computer in and be prompted with maintenance messages.
