You would need a 2016 as the GPS positioning hardware and On Board Telematics hardware are different.

I believe CarPlay will be purchasable on the ConnectedDrive store for you but I'm not sure when.

iDrive 6.0 should just be a matter of coding for you since you already have the proper hardware but I'm not sure if it can be done on an early 2016 G11 build. If your vehicle goes in for an update at the dealership, we should be able to turn it on for you once you're on newer firmware.

Yes but you will lose ConnectedDrive as your existing telematics equipment is not compatible with ID5. You will however gain CarPlay.

Is this wireless CarPlay like the g30 or you need the lightening cable? I prefer the setup with the Apple TV that is wireless and lets you use waze and google maps

It's wireless, but you can only use Apple Maps. You can't use Waze or Google Maps with CarPlay.
