For one day, BMW enables the BMW ConnectedDrive features for other car brands at the IAA motor show 2013. The car driver can interact with BMW ConnectedDrive by honking and flashing.

If I lived in Europe, I would happily give you my BMW Connected drive for your low vehicle prices and your low interest rates.

Try paying our prices (around $100K for a basic 335i and our dollar was at parity not too long ago) and our interest rates (6.5% is around the best you'll get here at the moment).

Don't wish for something that you may regret

My wife and I were just talking about wanting to move to Europe for the TV shows...Sherlock, Torchwood, Luther, The Fall, Being Human and Broadchurch. We were joking (somewhat), but paying $100M for a no-line 335??!! Wow. I can get a fully loaded Tesla S for that in the states (not that I want one).

Australians often complain about car prices but they don't reveal the full picture: salaries are also vastly higher than in Europe...

Methinks you should check your facts a little further before posting"vastly" inaccurate posts.

Yes we do have higher average salaries than our European counterparts but not to justify paying two to three times the price for the same car.

Today i get a quote by a dealer for a 420d m sport with leather, navi, and some other options, not really loaded just the basics things to have on such car. the price was 60.000 € with a 10% discount. For that price in the US you can buy an M3!

And salaries here are way lower than US. The average is near 1000-1200€ per month.

That's the cost of subsidising and bailing out the local auto manufacturing industry, and also paying a luxury car tax.

According to the internet, and I know its a Pandora's box of truth, the average Nett salary in Italy is $2400 US and Australia's is $3200.

The BASE 420d, not even a M sport, in Australia is $80k!

I used to live in Egypt. Funny how you guys consider a 335i at 100k expensive.

Try a 335i at 200k.

Wages are shit too, people considered to have a good job make 5k/year.

That's because of customs or as they say in Egypt "gamarik"

Astronomical taxes as well contribute to their high vehicle prices.
What about being in Serbia where an average salary is $5,000 a year. Cant even get a 25k car let alone 100k....

Sranje...

Guys, try living in Malaysia where a 335i cost u $155k. Only rich ppl can afford 335i. Normal average joe can only afford 320i-328i.

Exactly. If our Malaysian 335i is price at $100k too. I bet the street is full with 335i instead of 328i & 320i.. To us, average car price between $80k-$200k is not a prob.

The parking assist was 100% staged. Handles magically appeared on the car. I would venture to guess they were all actors.

Cars are relatively inexpensive in the US, but other things wipe you out: health care, tuition, property taxes.

Also, too little investment in public infrastructure and services. Roads are crappy, unbelievable numbers of people in jail, and the US is pretty much at the bottom or close to it in all categories related to the well-being of the public among developed countries (education, health care, upward mobility, etc.)

But as long as we have cheaper cars, gas, flat screen TVs, and bulk food people are happy (the important stuff requires too much thinking and is too depressing for 99% of the population, so ignorance and denial are bliss.)

Sorry, but this "you in the US are so lucky to pay less for cars" gets to me because it's so ignorant of the bigger picture of the reality of life in the US. We may have cheaper cars, but we pay dearly in other areas. There are good reasons for the lack of immigration to the US from other developed countries over the last 20-30 years.
