Seems most xdrives get the touring tire.
Did you order all seasons?

Most of these tires will do a great job.
The differences really only come in to play at higher cornering speeds, and for braking.
If most of the driving isn't pushing towards the cars limits, then it's not likely any of these tires will do poorly.

My personal preference has been UHP all seasons, so I'm ok with giving up some ultimate dry grip in order to gain traction in colder and wet roads.
If BMW would have offered the Bridgestone RE970 or Conti DWS I would have been all about YES, I'll take them.

Too bad you don't live close by, because my S001's will be coming off in October, and won't go back on until my lease return.
I have to return the car with RFT's.
If you don't get the S001's I could have swapped with you.
Maybe you can find someone in your area that is doing what I'm doing, or they may be getting new wheels and different tires, and would be willing to swap their S001's.

BTW, the S001's have a 280 wear rating, which is a comparative number within the brand. They will wear quickly.
The RE970's have a 400 wear rating, much longer life within the brands range.

The Conti DWS have a 540 wear rating within their brand range, and the SSR's are 280. I got very good wear with my DWS on my 135i.
I put at least 27K miles on them and there was enough tread to get me through this fall, but not enough to get me through a 4th winter.
But that works for me as my lease is 3yrs.

I'm very tempted to go with the RE970's this time, but I'm leery of the 400 wear rating. It may be risky through the 3rd winter.
Tire Rack rates the 970 highly, and they test as a better sport tire than the DWS, as the 970's have a stiffer sidewall.
But the DWS were great in the winter, and especially in wet conditions.

Also, just to let you know, the ride quality with the DWS vs the OEM
UHP summer Dunlop 01 RFT, was much better.
On my 135i the RFT's would literally crash into bumps and the ride would be jarring over even moderate bumps. The DWS gave up a bit of sharper turn in but the return in ride quality more than made up for it.

I mention this because with my 335i and the S001's, I can still feel that harshness of an RFT on sharper bumps. These next gen RFT's are better, but they still have a harsh quality coupled with the sport suspension.
I'm looking forward to changing them.

Are these run-flats? I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned Michelin...

Does the tire warranty cover worn tires?

If so, maybe it's not a bad deal.

Does your car have the staggered 18" wheels/tires (Style 400) or the 19" set (Style 403) ?
Are your tires Goodyear Eagle F1 RFT, made in Germany ? If so,

All seasons. I live in the DC area. So, while our winters are not as brutal as Chicago, we get the occasional Snowpacolypse. And when it rains here, people all of a sudden forget how to drive.

Did you order the Performance Summer tires, or All Season? You might still get some snow in the high passes.

Odds are you will be fine. I did 3 Ed's with performance tires in May without any problems . Last ED we spent 4 days in the Dolomite passes and it was great.Good luck
