I intermittently hear a noise that sounds like its coming from behind the dash. It's hard to explain but sounds like something moving/rubbing slightly, or maybe even like a failing hard disk (haven't had any issues with iDrive though).

The weirdest thing is that it happens even regardless of if the car is moving, and also happens when the engine is off due to ASS, but not when the ignition is off. Sometimes there are only a few seconds between the noise, other times it goes 40sec. It's not even that loud but its driving me somewhat insane. I hear it even with climate control turned off too.

Has anyone heard something similar? Any ideas?
