Right front spring will not seat properly?

I swapped out my shocks and springs on my 340i X-Drive for Dinan and Koni SA. My right front spring doesn't seem to want to seat correctly. I've swapped out the spring for a new spring. I've put back the factory strut. I mounted the spring what I believe to be upsidedown and nothing works. OEM strut is right side up SA is upsidedown. Help?

Where's your dust boots? From just replacing my top hats, dust boots and lower shims, the dust boot is also an integrated top shim. It has a half coil support (lack of a better term) which helps keep the coil seating correctly to the top hat. Reference FCP Euros site below. This may be the reason for it not sitting correctly.

The boot got torn from it slipping off constantly. I ordered a new one and the issue is still there. But the issue is easier to see with the boot off.

As obijon said, the top part of the dust boot is the upper spring pad and locates the spring into the top mount. How are you fitting the spring and assembling the strut?
Building mine up I located the bottom of the spring on the spring pad, dust boot on the top mount and located on the top of the spring then compressed the spring to get the damper through the hole in the top mount all with the spring sitting correctly from the off.

The spring seat in the strut mount (the piece at the top of the strut & spring that bolts to the strut tower) rotates. Make sure that the bottom is aligned on the strut then rotate the top to align with the top of the spring. Do this when you install the new boots.

Mount?

I've swapped the left mount to the right side and now the right is fine and the left is the one with the issue. Here are pictures of me trying yet again on the left side. You will see the strut mount, spring and strut all nicely aligned before being installed and once installed all goes to pot. I believe something inside the rubber of the mount has failed causing a distortion once there is some strain put on the mount as it bolts to the chassis and the lower portion is held in place by the knuckle.

In case someone else ever encounters this replacing the mount fixed it. Went together without issue. The factory mount only had 30k on it. The bearings were fine must have been the bushing in it. I don't know how it was fine before I took the suspension apart. All I care is it's fixed!
