Hey AU people.

I am just going through the process of mounting my e-tag unit into my F31.

I went through the Clem7 and Airport Link tunnels yesterday and tried to find a place on the windscreen where the tag would go off, but it never beeped once. I rang GoVia and they said that it could just be that the tag's not beeping.

That being said, I probably should mount it even though I have my plate registered.

Where does BMW recommend these are mounted? I couldn't find anything relevant in the manual (probably not looking hard enough or it's called something else).

I've heard rumours that it should go in the black spotty area around the rear vision mirror mount?

Hey feng,

I've mounted my tag on the spotty area. on this car and on previous (e92). Never had an issue with it being recognised through clem/gateway

I leave mine in the glovebox and pull it out when I need it.

I put it on the top corner on the front passenger side of the windscreen

I placed mine beside the mirror mounting on the left, behind the mirror itself facing a "downward" position. If you get it right, you can't even see if from your driving position.

Thanks for your feedback everyone. I don't mind being able to see it if it's like its meant to be there. Passenger side spotty seems like where I want to put it. Invisible from the outside too.

That is where mine is, but I painted it black as well - so it looks like part of the car.

hehe.. I found mine was hit and miss when I didn't have it mounted.
