If you can talk the person down on anything, some things might be worth the time. I would leave the 1D alone, it's too old, however, i think you would be very very happy with it for what it costs, if you were interested.

that 17-55 2.8 EF-S lens would be something you should consider Mark, would work well on the T1i or the 60D or 7D that you might end up with in the near future. My buddy just picked one up recently, and it's a very very nice piece. If I didn't have the full frame body as well as my 7D, i would probably grab that lens instead of my 24-70 2.8. It's that good.

I've thought about it and the 16-35L. But the 16-35L is not the II version. And there is a newer 17-55mm 2.8 on CL for $25 less. I just don't shoot that range much and I have it covered anyway. Besides, my funds are still on hold for a 7D at this point. Then the 70-200mm F4L. And then maybe a 135mm F2L. And so on, and so on..

i forgot about the 16-35II I have this lens, and it's basically perminantly attached to my 5DII however, it shoots like a 24-55 when i put it on my 7D, so it really has no use on a crop body to me when i have that range covered already 10x over.

I can see you getting more use out of the 70-200 F4 then the 135L, that being said, you would really like the 135L It's a fantastic lens. Lacks weather sealing however, that that's a minor inconvenience, especially if you get yourself a rain hood for the camera.

funny, i was just looking at my D3's shutter count the other day. i'm at 68,000 and it's four years old this month. by my calculations and triangulations, it should last me until the summer of 2025.

Damn pricey for a glorified P&S, though. I think if I had that kind of money to spend on a small camera it would be a Sony Nex-7.

If you can justify it for yourself however, we won't stop you. Would you keep the 50D as a backup?

what would you "upgrade" to?

Or were you talking more like, silicone implants?
I'd most likely sell the 50D for a 7D. Main reason being for the upgraded AF.

that would be a good choice Gary. You can get them for relatively good prices too.

something like that... I think one of the cheapest ways is getting a refurb during a sale and it'll be $1150 + tax.

The rebates got extended (thankfully) until sometime in Feb. Still listing on Amazon for $1348. I'm hoping to grab one before the rebates end and the price jumps $100.

it's a nice auto-focus. Was just discussing with a friend earlier how well it works compared to the one in the 5DII (same as 50D) Even when using the AIServo function it's nice and accurate and tracks objects really well.

I can only imagine what they are like on the 1D series cameras.

from what i've heard, the 1D series auto-focus is still not that good, compared to nikon. i'm hoping they've fixed it in the X.

Let's all keep our fingers crossed.

I read something about the current 1D series being able to track objects really well, but once in low contrast situations, the usual problems pop up.

I'm still waiting to see what happens with the new 5DIII and what improvements there are. That will tell me about all I need to know.

Damn, that new Fuji is pricey. More than a 7D.

Quote:
The X-Pro1 will be available in late February, but pricing is not yet set. Fujifilm indicates that the camera body will cost around $1,700 and that lenses will be priced around $650 a piece.
